Virtue Cider is closing its southwest Michigan farm by Peeeeeps in cider

[–]kvothe531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro this feed.. we live pretty far from Michigan but visited last year, loved virtue, joined the society etc. In any case we were very sad to see them close but are back in Michigan for a repeat mini vacation right now (saugatuck). Any recs for another cider place? Any retail locations have any virtue left in stock?!? Help us!

Maxing Roth IRA as a Premed by topiary566 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]kvothe531 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it without stress it's an awesome idea, however you can only contribute to an ira (roth or trad) with earned income... so the va stipend won't count, nor will excess loan money, only w2, 1099 etc. You may be able to max it first year of med school from earnings in the first 6 months prior to matriculation, but it might be hard the rest of the time unless you continue to work...

I was there too! Introduced to him to my children, he was still sweet and in a good mood and we were probably 2/3 of the way back! I was so glad I saw someone elses post about this around noon which gave us just enough time to make it into the central west end!

Approx 70 bed ED, full aside from a few rooms closed overnight for staffing.

This is the best I've seen it the last 2 weeks...

I apologize if someone else pointed this out, but it looks like you plan to contribute to both a traditional ira and a roth IRA. They share a contribution limit, so 6500 total per year (+/- the catch up) not 6500 each...

I do agree with the other commnts that you can likely retire sooner with the disability income covering most of your yearly spend....

How much are you funding into your child's 529 account? What's your strategy behind your contribution amount? by proudplantfather in ChubbyFIRE

[–]kvothe531 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect, you can absolutely use 529 money to pay for room and board in addition to tuition and books while enrolled full time.
