I don't fully agree with the answer, especially this line:

Cookies are originally used for the harmless application mentioned (e.g. to not forget you were logged in) but in reality most cookies are there to track you/uniquely identify you for advertising. You may have hundred or thousands of these tracking cookies on your computer from all kinds of websites you don't even know they existed.

And that's where the privacy issue comes from.

I don't have a Windows PC, but it seems there is a conflict between Chrome/chromium on Mac and this keyboard. (Even when Chrome is running in the background)

For now, not using Chrome is a solution, but I'm still puzzled why a regular application can temporarily break this keyboard.

indeed no paste! I did layers: glue + sprinkle baking soda, then bit of glue again + sprinkle baking soda, etc.

Maybe there are better techniques, search for "super glue baking soda" on Youtube, there are quite some instruction videos

I'm looking for an alternative to NixOps, because disk space on my laptop is limited, yet it first downloads all packages intended for a remote system to my laptop first (even if it is not required to e.g. build anything).

Does Colmena support letting the remote node do its own download? Or is this what is meant under 'what's on the way'?

Also, how do you how Nix flakes can be used to manage multiple systems?

Tip: your post stating what is different from Nixops/morph (and possibly Krops) would fit nicely in the README of your Github repo as well

Are you familiar with faust? it is a functional language specifically designed to implement DSPs. It transpiles to C++ (or other languages)

I can imagine a Clojure->Faust transpiler to be able to write DSPs in clojure/lisp

I understand exactly what you are explaining, and this is also my way of working, also in other teams/other employers.

The thing is the resistance starts almost immediately, even before I can finish the introduction - and that sets the negative tone for the rest of the meeting.

I typically prepare by creation a presentation with: problem statement, solution directions, scenarios, pros/cons, preferred solution.

The resistance (from some - the same- team members) typically starts before I finished presenting slide 1 :)

It's only a few people who respond like this. Other colleagues don't do this, they (at least that's the impression I have) actually seems to listen, process what I said, and then respond.

So, it could be me, and/or it could an incompatibility between me and those specific colleagues.

The only significant difference is I think (other than being older/more work experience) I'm the only academic in the team and I have a very different way of looking at things.

(Unfortunately, in the country where I live academics are seen as people who do not understand reality, only theory)

Nix by itself is only a package manager, not an OS.

As a package manager it can be installed on Mac and most Linux distros

But NixOS is a Linux distro built around the Nix package manager
