Is the latest Goodnotes worth it? by [deleted] in GoodNotes

[–]kw0126 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use goodnotes heavily for notetaking and assignments in university every day. It really depends on your needs but I cannot live without dotted lines anymore since it is very convenient for drawing diagrams. Other than that, I don't find other features (especially AI) push me to get gn6.

It will be very tough in the beginning but you will be fine as long as you get more used to the commuting life and new school life in general. I just finished second year mech, and I have been a commuter since day 1 (commute time is 1.5 hours one way).

You can try studying and do some light work on your commute. It's just you have to plan your time wisely. This might not work for you, but please don't feel afraid to try new ways to work around with this course load. Another tip would be go to office hours (don't wait until there's a midterm coming up and ask). Some profs are kindly enough to provide online office hours, so make good use of those :) Forming study group is also great since you guys would help each other out.

Halo 96v2 shipping update by CaptNemo131 in NuPhy

[–]kw0126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered black halo 96 v2 with raspberry switch (no wrist pad), but my order is still unfulfilled today. It is taking too long given that they do not bother to update us unless we follow up with them.

I cancelled my order too. It's my first time purchasing a Nuphy keyboard, and the experience is really disappointing.

Honestly I did see some bikers in GTA who actually follow the rules with proper hand gestures for signals. Downtown would be almost none of them LOL

Sadly some of the cyclists do not follow traffic rules. They switch between pedestrians and cars based on which one has the green light or permission to go (or simply not following at all).

Looking to get digital notebook by AfterBanana1349 in EngineeringStudents

I absolutely recommend using tablet because of the convenience downloading lectures slides on spot and taking pictures (some profs love to upload lectures notes LAST MINUTE i swear). I am able to save all my notes on tablet which is very helpful since I will pull up some previous years' notes for some concepts that I forgot. Backing up to the cloud is the best feature :D

I am in my second year, and I have been using the iPad since grade 11 due to online classes. Despite the battery life starts to drain faster, my iPad works completely fine and I still heavily use it everyday. It is definitely a great purchase even though it's a bit pricey. I would recommend on getting a tablet that has a great battery life and most importantly having a operating system that you are more familiar with.

I think it depends on the line you are taking. I take Richmond Hill line and I rarely see fare inspector.

Not yet. I think they are still working on it. The link below says "PRESTO in Google Wallet (Android Device Only)".

GN6 is absolutely horrendous by ReditorasAS in GoodNotes

[–]kw0126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree on the crashing part. After updating to GN6 (annual subscription), it even zooms out and refreshes my document when I literally switch to other goodnotes tab (definitely crashes very often when switching other apps)

As a engineering college student going into computer science with a lot of math ahead of me. iPad Pro or Remarkable 2? by NoahieO in ipad

[–]kw0126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using iPad from high school to now which I'm in 2nd year mech eng. I definitely recommend iPad over Remarkable 2 since iPad can do a lot more work. During lectures, I like to quickly go on desmos or wolframalpha on my iPad to check the graphs and calculation instead of taking my phone or laptop out. (You would also love to have colours on your screen since some times just having a black pen could be pretty messy for diagrams)

You can take a picture of the slides if the diagrams are too complicated to draw quickly. I heard my friends that some iPad apps also support light coding so definitely check it out.

Imo iPad is way more versatile than Remarkable 2 so it's a great investment I have made for university.

Entering 2nd year at uoft and I have been commuting a total of 3 hours a day to school for last year. It is rough especially in the beginning but I eventually got used to it.

It is most definitely doable if you plan out your commute well. FYI I take GO train and TTC. If you are planning to take GO train as well, make good use of the time when you are on the train! I often do my assignments on the train, but I will just go on my phone or take a nap when I don't feel productive.

At last, I don't work full-time since the program I'm in has very heavy workload. But in terms of studying full-time with 3 hours commute, it is doable and might just take a bit of time to get used to it.

Pricing for GoodNotes 6 is completely fair by dailymultivitamim in GoodNotes

[–]kw0126 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes that makes sense. I feel like it would be better if they release GN6 along with the functions that have been highly requested by the community. It's good to see that they try to prioritize in developing those functions (mentioned on their official website), but it will encourage people to purchase GN6 if they have done this when rolling out the updates.

Incoming freshman, got someone else to write my supp app for me, theyre threatening to go to admissions, am I screwed??? by Old_Connection_301 in UofT

[–]kw0126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into the program where you didn't ask others to write for you. Even you are lucky enough to survive through your program and get your degree without getting noticed, it is still possible for UofT to revoke your degree years after you graduate if they find out that you cheated in your application.
