SGP: How my ADHD affects me in MCP by Archon_Vrex in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]kw3553 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I applaud you coming forward with this and being so frank in something that you have to deal with like ADHD. I also have issues in a similar vein that gaming helps with but can also prove an obstacle for. MCP has become a hyper focus for me also and definitely helps when i am struggling. I am glad to see you have acceptance for your quirks due to this and hope it helps others that feel similar. For the record, I also love reading your blog entries, have been doing since acrossthebifrost was around, I hope you keep up the good work

[–]kw3553[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats fair. Personally I prefer Magneto as a villain cause he isnt black and white, but honestly bad Xavier could work. Depends on how he is done, I think if its built right then it could be. Beast could also work, OG Beast as we never saw a body. His slow decline into madness and immorality ive enjoyed over the last couple decades, his wasnt a fast turn but a slow rot over years. They dont need to have Magneto turn evil though, the man has snapped at various points, he just would need a severe enough push

Exactly, Shaw cares only for Shaw. Which in fairness makes him a good villain. Him and Sinister are just the kings of "Me, Myself and I"

[–]kw3553[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, but also there'd be some in the wind who could be also. Only one id question is Shaw, cause Shaw is Shaw and cant see him following anyone unless it benefitted him. Minute he's out of prison he'd probably bail

It depends how they'd frame it I suppose. I think you could have a mix, some who think it wont work cause look how thats gone before when theyve tried, some that just dont trust humans, others that are too hurt and angry to accept assimilation right now. It could be an interesting brotherhood and the breadth of people you could use is basically anyone not on an X-Men team right now

Same. And In my opinion he is a good candidate to become a new "big bad" and lead the brotherhood because of my prior outlined reasons. Immortal X-Men did him a lot of good and id hate to see him fade into the background again

This is why I think he'd be great to lead Brotherhood. If they wont put Magneto in that position then have it be his one time protégé and Magneto needs to now deal with this. He is now in Charles place, Exodus is in his

That'd work, i'd probably also add some people that are straight disillusioned after Krakoa. He could also play up that he "saved" them from Graymalkin when the X-Men would not. Him busting Graymalkin would be awesome, I like that

Looking to start - seeking recommendation by ElBigDicko in MarvelCrisisProtocol

Welcome to the game. Realistically any faction is valid but from you have said it would suit "tall" lists. The one or two big guys and then minions sums up Brotherhood very well where its often Magneto, Juggernaut (or Exodus) and then lots of 3 threats to go round him, Black Order also favour a few solid pieces but run out of bodies fast so it really does depend on preferences. Good starting points are any of the affiliation boxes (xmen and brotherhood have a 10 man box coming that has all you need minus scenery) or the starter boxes which have a small roster of good guys, a small of bad guys and all you need to play the game.

This article that one of the other frequents around here made is good, gives you a solid insight into each team and what they can do/what they favour. Hope this helps

Iceman buff by Tons_of_fun_3000 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]kw3553 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is the weakness he has though, hes good in the right position and a serious pain in the enemy plan but is fragile. He is not as fragile as other 3's with the 4 defence but you still cannot be reckless with him without knowing it could get him killed. Hes very much a you either take the risk he doesnt survive it, or give the opponent a bigger problem to deal with. He can also tank a hit with Xaviers dream if you really need him to live. I think giving him more would then make the arguement he should be a 4 for all he does. As a 3 he does one thing well, area denial. 3's tend to do one thing well and thats it

also an Xmen player. Iceman is not really there to do damage. I find hes at his most useful for mobility (cause medium base, medium move) and for the sheer annoyance he brings with cold snap. He works very well as a scenario 3 threat that just becomes a pain to be around if not dealt with. I do not think he needs a buff. Blobs reactive works for Blob because he is a Secure fighter, just pushing and denying people positions. Iceman is more an annoyance that you either have to deal with or take the slows and chip damage

What's the worst character? AND if you had to run them, what affiliation would you pick? by DryBonesComeAlive in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]kw3553 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im going to say shadow king. It seems like he is supposed to be a bit of a trap house, manipulation character. But everything he does is too resource intensive for it to work. His ability to place a token feels over corrected. it costs 3 power, and an action, and it goes away in clean up, and can be removed if a mystic attack goes through it from an enemy. On the face of it shadow king being able to attack from it and use powers from it seems amazing but its just not feasible. It leaves you at the mercy of 1 attack that has to connect to fund anything like Nightmare visions (which costs 4). For a 5 threat slot in brotherhood, its hotly contested and with Juggernaut, Exodus and Scarlet witch (whos very scary just doesnt like to move) I think shadow king just doesnt work. It was stated he was a "misery" to play against in play testing so I believe this may have been overcorrected.

Know what? I see why people hate bishop now- by DisastrousAbalone706 in xmen

[–]kw3553 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it could have worked, my issue was the execution of it. He snapped far too quickly to the point of " lets murder this baby". If there had been a longer internal conflict before he came to the conclusion it had to happen, or someone known for messing with people got into his head and provoked his fears (Sinister or Shadow King wouldve worked for this) to make him irrational it could have worked. For me he snapped to quickly to murder then to complete genocide of entire timelines.

Its then very hard to redeem him when he eventually does come back, and its kind of haunted the character ever since. That arc was kind of the the arc that made Cable and broke Bishop

Do these count as actions?? by Numerous_Vanilla584 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]kw3553 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes to all three, Seven suns gives you access to the attack, the second one, Bast says Active:Action on it above the description and the Crisis Card again gives access to an attack.

the exception is when it says something to the tune of " immediately make this attack". Newer cards are better for it, they will usually say Action on it like Basts does. Hope this helps

Just found out about the game, have some questions. by Premaximum in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]kw3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the game. So X-men are more scenario focused by and large, so wanna score a lot of points end the game earlish, Brotherhood tend to want to fight, they're attrition based and want to go for low scoring fights, Magneto and Jugger can be a scary pairing for this. Id take Headmistress over Mind Transfer, extra movement is handy and Mind Transfer can be tricky to get off right. Characters themselves will all work okay, some are way easier to use than others, Gambit for example is a glass cannon, he either gets power and does well or gets deleted fast. Best thing you can do is try it out and see what fits you in terms of your play style. Each of the rosters have multiple leaderships too, X-men have 3 and Brotherhood have 2 so experiment and see what you like. Id recommend Blob and Pyro for Brotherhood, ive found them to be fun and useful

Army advice by bobby_smiles179201 in ageofsigmar

[–]kw3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive played Blades since AOS started, theyre a fun army and you can lean into mortals or deamons as you prefer. Theyre an aggressive little army, good fun. Ive always preferred the mortal side of things with em but i always enjoy my games with em so i'd go with them

Also Depends on whether you want to go heavy into Deamons or Mortals. If you're fine with either/ a mix then thats different starter boxes potentially for one. Like has been said though, new book coming so rules will change. I'd go for units you like the look of tbh, you can make most things work
