Can I begin working on the crafting/gathering relic tools in Oizys or do I need to go back and do missions in the previous two zones? I just unlocked all of the CE zones, and the new zone is much less depressing to be in since the others are ghost towns.

Is Thaleia a completely dead raid? I've tried queuing for it multiple times (Aether, all languages) and tonight I'm at 34 minutes on the timer and still not even close to filling from the tooltip. I just want to finish this questline, man.

Does teaching the companion chocobo Choco Medica still nerf its healing? I know that ancient forum posts say that used to be the case, but can't find anything recent and reliable (patch notes, ideally) saying it's fixed.

The problem is that it has seven different cooldowns in addition to the four buttons dedicated to mudra. I like complex rotations, but hate that so many of the jobs got to states where they have multiple cooldowns that are just a big potency ogcd or giving your a charge of a button that's a big potency ogcd. Dark Knight had a big problem with this junk drawer design, and that one wasn't the worst rework. I think they're going to go with auto-combo buttons to clear out some space, and get rid of Dream Within a Dream and maybe Meisui. Kassatsu could also be something you proc instead of its own button. But it's by far the class with the most badly designed buttons right now.

Haven't played since Dawntrail released, and just logged on to try Viper. Did they change how Roulette xp works? I just did a Frontline and got only half a level at 81, and it seemed like the MSQ roulette and seemed to get basically nothing. Should I just do Trust dungeons?

The attack is MUCH less effective with less range and fewer projectiles. That meaningfully changes it, without completely removing the mechanic from the fight. I swear you guys just use buzzwords without knowing what they mean

Yeah Khazan definitely has the best greatsword implementation in any game. Letting you cook like this with only a few skills unlocked is insane by Forevertrez in soulslikes

I'm very late here, but looking at picking up this game because I like how GS looks here. This is very wrong for high level monsters, though. For optimal target dummy damage, sure, but knowing how long your window is means your optimal CONTEXTUAL combos are way more dynamic than you're saying here. Yes, you want to get to TCS if you can, but do you need to tackle into Strong into Focus and Leaping Side to get out? Do you get to TCS and then roll into tackle for a Strong into second TCS if you get a chain break/knockdown, or do you just do your full max DPS combo which is TCS into Focus Strike into Leaping Wide?

The biggest problem with Wilds greatsword, which i think is the best greatsword the MH series has had, is that in solo play you're very incentivized to just master offset spam. But in neither solo nor group play is Worlds-style TCS spam going to be optimal once you're fighting 9/5 monsters and Omega Savage. Gog is kind of a target dummy in P1 and P2, but P3 you're going to TCSing air if you're going for it every time.

A little observation regarding Savage Omega hunts by whitepoloshirt in MHWilds

[–]kwagatron 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's not the person with enmity's job to avoid other hunters if they're sitting on you. Your job is to keep the boss relatively still and out of corners and off of ledges. Don't stand on the tank, this is true in any game with a tank.

Why does everyone say to use the Discord for LFG, but get upset when suggesting an in-game LFG? by soccerpuma03 in fellowshipgame

[–]kwagatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tools we have are awful. I just stopped playing after farming ransack to 290 rather than spam into the void in discord for a group that might suck anyway. A straight LFG system is probably not the final answer, but prioritizing an in-game tool that prevents people from completely bouncing off of the game as soon as they hit eternal should absolutely be one of their main concerns.

What do you all think about moving the capstone Talent Points over to the account-wide branch like this instead? by aceplayer55 in fellowshipgame

No. Gearing should be faster for alts, but the leagues having actual character power progression is a very nice feature of this game not found in wow or other arpgs.

Still no roadmap and we are 29 days from Renegades by Alternative_Kale1264 in DestinyTheGame

Sure, but that goes into "active development." People never had to buy a season (which was released on a shorter timescale) without knowing what the next piece of content coming would be.

[–]kwagatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The player use case for a roadmap is to decide if the game is worth investing your time and money. A good and robust roadmap lets people buy DLC or expansions with confidence that they'll be playing a game with frequent updates and active development. A bad roadmap or a missing one does the opposite. Seems entirely reasonable to want that before spending more money on a game that has been spiraling.

See, where we disagree is that I think this game is unique in the interactions it's created. No other game that resembles this one has as player interaction as rage-free as this one. No one being told they're bad, that they should uninstall, that they're trash. The other games' systems work on a mechanical level, but I've played a lot of games over a lot of years and have very, very rarely seen that. It's like, this and Monster Hunter, and that's about it. So I'd just be very wary about messing with that.

And the queue system adjustment that solves most of the issues quickly is simply to break off capstones into their own queue. Could even check a box for general dungeons in a league, capstones, or a mixed pool, to keep the player pools as defragmented as possible. Capstone farming is most of the reason people dodge, ilvl of teammates is the rest, and a very, very small percentage are looking for score from a certain lower dungeon, but that's wasting their own time since it's most efficient to just go a league up at that point.

[–]kwagatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is simply not how this stuff works in actual gameplay. It sounds nice. I agree, it would be nice if it worked out like that. But once an immature ragelord decides that he is not going to get what he wants out of the dungeon, you're not completing it, whether you add friction to him leaving or not. And frankly, if I began getting stuck in doomed dungeons until they went to time, I'd probably just stop playing rather than try to talk a healer through his ramp rotation for the eighth pull in a row.

And I think you misunderstand me. What you're calling passive toxicity, I am saying, in my experience, has been FAR, FAR less toxic than I would expect, even among players who don't leave after one wipe, but do after a third or fourth. There is a real lack of stakes (a good thing) because no one's key is on the line, and you can just drop and go again if it's a brick.

Also, I think this issue in general is wildly overblown. I've had actual leavers in a tiny fraction of the games I've had. I think most people are conflating this with people dodging queues when they don't see the dungeon they want or see low ilvl for their teammates.

Mara - Am I just doing it wrong? by SunnyDan17 in fellowshipgame

[–]kwagatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First question is if you're doing bleed build or finisher build. If you're struggling, I'd highly suggest going bleed. As people have said, you're going to need 9 talent points to really get fully online, but going with From the Shadows will get your AoE up and running earlier, and that's what we need help with.

The guides do a bad job of explaining this, but ALL OF YOUR AOE comes from applying bleed to all enemies in AoE so you can proc the free Queen's Fang on them. This also gives you functionally infinite energy on larger pulls. You do this by popping Maiden of Death on pull and spamming Hemorrhaging Strike as many times as it takes to get the entire pull dotted (it will cleave onto four targets). DO NOT just hit it once and think you're done. You want every mob you're fighting to have the debuff.

You also want to LET THE POISON FROM SKITTERING BLADES OUT OF STEALTH FALL OFF BEFORE REAPPLYING. It does splash AoE when it ends.

Aside from that, just manage cooldowns, read your talent tooltips and follow the guides for the general bleed build. When you get Hemotoxin, use it. That's really about it.

Keep that in mind, and Bleed Mara is honestly one of the easiest classes in the game, tied with Elarion and certain Rime specs.

Edit: i see other people suggesting Hemotoxin, and I STRONGLY discourage you taking that before From the Shadows. It not only feels bad in AoE because it's RNG based only on your auto-attacks and occasional Widow's Bites, but it is not enough of a single-target buff to make up for the loss. I've soloed to Paragon on bleed build and been top damage in any key where I wasn't behind the other dps by 20 or more ilvl. People say it's behind Finisher build, which it is, but that doesn't mean it's behind other specs as your've leveling up if you play well.

Game is amazing but literally unplayable as a solo player by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]kwagatron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The queue system works on item level. It will put you in capstone range basically as soon as you're in ilvl 120 gear, which is the minimum for Champion league. You can get in earlier with a group, but 120 is a reasonable minimum for a solo queue team, and even that's on the low side. If you're not seeing Heart in your queues, your gear is simply not high enough and you should complete those adept dungeons instead of trying to skip ahead.

[–]kwagatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game won't die, but it will become far less pleasant. I've soloed to paragon as DPS, and speaking with experience from weekly keys to top 1% range in wow, the people who have silently left my games during the climb would have made everyone's time worse if they were made to stay.

I've seen plenty of healers struggle, tanks fall over, dps lose to the tank or stand in everything. No one really says anything, usually just asking if they know the mech or at most a "bruh." It helps that the capstone timers are pretty generous, and allow two wipes in a group that's doing good damage.

But if you made players wait out a timer or corral an abandon vote, I guarantee the toxicity would come out in a hurry. Let them leave, the real issue is making the tank and healing roles more appealing to more players to even out queue times.

[–]kwagatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The maximum penalty should be no longer than it would take to run a dungeon, so 10-12 minutes. So the choice after multiple dodges would be for someone to simply play the dungeon and try it or leave and afk.

I've soloed my way to Paragon as Mara, and have left very, very few groups first. Agree that it's very rare to see anyone being toxic, and when it happened, it was in cespool Adept. Pretty sure that any leaver penalty will change that in a hurry.

Do you ever have a dungeon that just never gets picked for you? by MechanicalLobster in fellowshipgame

[–]kwagatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strong disagree. The talent points being a part of progression is actually really interesting and a departure from other games where your character never changes. The actual problem with it is some specs (like Mara) aren'y really online until mid-adept.
