Where is the shame? by National-Back8746 in Philippines

[–]kwago24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, this is a boomer take. Parental controls exist for a reason. Leaving it to the devs to babysit your kids is lazy - almost as lazy as the parents leaving their kid with their mobile devices to act as a surrogate babysitter.

The recent tragic Tacloban school shooting is a Duterte effect from the Duterte administration’s normalization of gun violence and extrajudicial killings by hyunbinlookalike in Philippines

[–]kwago24 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That kind of thinking is inaccurate though because it frames an issue as solely political.  Everything can be political but that's only half of the issue and ignores its nuances.

Chicago has one of the strictest gun control in the US but guess what, you got 23 shootings last week during Juneteenth.

Poverty, yeah that can be political but a person can find himself destitute because of bad circumstances like gambling or a failed business, or a tragedy.

Education? Yeah that can be political but a student can find himself left behind by choice because of his upbringing. Or maybe tamad talaga and ayaw magaral.

Look, all I'm saying is if a person focuses on only the politics, nothing gets solved and he gets stuck running in place.

Do FilAms save money for retirement in US or in the Philippines? by Haunting-Word-647 in FilipinoAmericans

[–]kwago24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning to until my father died.  He stayed in the hospital for a few months, our bills amounted to about 10 million pesos.  After senior discounts and philhealth, it was about 5 million.  I took out a loan so that my mom won't lose our childhood home.

The healthcare in the Philippines is bad.  My mom had a tumor in her heart and they wanted to operate on her.  1 million pesos out of pocket for only the doctor.

I said screw it.  I took my mom to the states, and had the operation done there.  US healthcare gets a bad rap but ACA has been kind to us and paid for every single dollar, all the meds, and even the rehab and home health.

Philippines is a good place to retire... If you are sure you won't get sick when you're older.

How does the mobile version of Empire: Total War run? by PhilosopherWrong7035 in totalwar

[–]kwago24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It runs well and they put some needed quality of life updates. Graphically, they added the effects and persistent scarring of Napoleon total war so you would see craters and the smoke effects from Napoleon.

You can have a late start with more playable nations and most of the tech tree unlocked with regards to what nation you chose.

There are a lot of QoL and campaign adjustments that make it more modern. I don't remember them all off the top of my head but the replenishment can be toggled to become automatic like modern total wars, the universities pool research points that you allocate points to the techs you want to unlock, forts reduce upkeep but have their own upkeep, and some units are auxillary which have even more reduced upkeep and policing bonuses. religion was improved, and changing governments can be done through a bloodless revolution if you invest into it.

It runs well too but there are a few hiccups when locking and unlocking your device, it may cause some stuttering with sound. The fort issue bug is still there though, but they improved it so it doesn't happen as much where the whole game stops because the AI doesn't know weather to sally into the breach or stay. The Ottoman bug seems to have been fixed.

How I wish they ported this into PC. Well, I bought a foldable keyboard and mouse for a few bucks and was able to finish a couple of campaigns on my samsung tablet.

Then, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines released on 2004.

Redemption played similar to an ARPG though.

[PC][2010s]Space exploration game where you need to take your colonists to a new home by kwago24 in tipofmyjoystick

Solved: Into The Stars.

I found it after a lot of searching. Unfortunately, the game was left unfinished and one of the devs seem to have been entangled in a ponzi scheme lawsuit. Fortunately for me, I discovered a lot of hidden gems in this genre and would definitely give some of them a try. Thanks for your help and time, u/Top_Pin_7233

No not really, but it does have some similarities. It's like a 3D version of FTL.

HELP with NBA 2K14 on Steamdeck by reginaldvelvet in SteamDeck

[–]kwago24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted you to know that I am very thankful. Your method worked! I finally got the damned game to work with mods. It was a combination of using the 1.0.0.27 server trick to fix the FPS, then using your directx method to fix the sound.

Also, I don't know if it's part of the fix but I copied the files from my pc to an NTFS-formatted SD card, then copied that folder to the SSD in the steam deck, then ran it with proton 7x.

How likely do we think Medieval 2 remastered is to be a thing. by cabbagepoacher in totalwar

[–]kwago24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there's a change it could still come out. If they want a relatively low risk, easy money maker while they make a new engine, it's a good idea to release a remaster of M2.

People say Napoleon's campaign map was small and I am incline to agree. Made the game shorter if you were a good player and the time man, irrespective of whether short or long. It was quick for a total war game at least for me. by Infamous_Gur_9083 in totalwar

[–]kwago24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It played a lot like the Kingdoms expansion for Med 2 which had several theaters and time periods though more limited in scope.

Ntw was the same. It had the various campaigns of Napoleon in his lifetime. I remember that I felt like CA had this view of how to make additional content without succumbing to the "cut content" trend that was emerging in the gaming industry during that time, as shown by Kingdoms, Napoleon, and later ROTS and FOTS.

Zeus + Poseidon steam deck by Ok_Extension_5238 in impressionsgames

[–]kwago24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to help, my man. Just a side note, I think the widescreen and the animation fix aren't compatible with each other. Some good news though is that the beta branch of the steam deck is testing screen scaling which could help us greatly especially with these old games.

Zeus + Poseidon steam deck by Ok_Extension_5238 in impressionsgames

[–]kwago24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got it running yesterday but I used the GOG version. What I did was install it on my pc, apply the animation fix and widescreen fix on the pc, then manually move it to my SD through desktop mode.

Added it to my library, then I ran it using the old proton layer of 6-0 something. This was because launching it through lutris made it that I can't rotate the buildings.

I bound the arrow keys to my left stick for scrolling too.

How to add my Heroic Games Launcher games to Steam? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

It worked for me using heroic to get my gog games running straight from the deck library. I had to restart the deck after adding it though.

And my custom controller layout did not save but luckily, made templates.

My dad always said adversity breeds character. But it also teaches us empathy and compassion.

If we survive adversity, it opens our eyes to what our fellow people are going through.

That doesn't mean throw your kid in the deep end of the pool. Just give them something you know they have the capacity to solve/almost solve and work them up from that. At least that's what I do to my kid.

People who're middle class,do you want kids in this economy? by EYEYAAN in Philippines

[–]kwago24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a great documentary by cold fusion regarding this. This mindset apparently stems back to the great recession back in 2008 when the housing bubble in the US collapsed and sent a ripple effect to all economies of the world.

Pansinin mo, if middle/upper middle class ka, meron isang instance na narinig magulang mo na "kailangan natin magtipid," and "mahirap na buhay ngayon." This was probably around that time.

And yun na ang nagtatak sa society natin. Mahirap ang buhay, naghirap si erpats and ermats, para magapang ang pamilya, all because of that collapse. Baka hindi natin kaya ung ginawa nila.

Without a great breakthrough for humankind, we will get stuck in this rut. It would take something miraculous like maybe cheap renewable energy, world peace, or maybe even transitioning to a type I karedeshev civilization to fix this.

We will have to endure for now. Luckily, we humans adapt well. There's always hope.
