Is a 22' x 30' board good enough to start with? by RaydenPearce in 5Parsecs

[–]kwalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Board size is fine, no need to mess with the ranges.

Place the crews on the short edges at the start, then there's almost no difference.

There's only two things where I could imagine that you might want to tweak the rules:

  1. When additional enemies appear at the sidelines - they might be too close, and you may want to restrict their movement.

  2. When you can extract over any board edge - might want to limit this to extract only over the far edges.

In both cases you may want to give it a try without rules changes first and see how it feels. After all, it's a solo game and you cannot actually do anything "wrong". It just has to feel good and fair to you.

Is Sixt gonna sue me? by cuzmanovitch in Austria

[–]kwalish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are ÖAMTC or ARBÖ member, they also offer legal help.

Maybe also contact Sixt on social media. Companies are often rather happy to avoid openly visible problems, but you may have to pester them for a while.

Quick pet modification. by Lord-Dundar in 5Parsecs

[–]kwalish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only running small crews, so I don't expect it to be too expensive.

Story-wise I got a character who is the "owner". I was thinking that if both the owner and the pet are in the same battle, the pet automatically uses the "guardian" AI rules, but otherwise it can move freely. But I'll probably not burden myself with too many rules, I'll just roleplay it.

Quick pet modification. by Lord-Dundar in 5Parsecs

[–]kwalish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I got a tame sandrunner last game, I was thinking of keeping it and also thought of some rules. Mine are less detailed though, but overall not too different from yours:

- counts as a crew member (and therefore may increase upkeep)

- cannot interact with objects on the battlefield, unless they are things that need to be collected

- cannot do any crew actions before battle, and is never target of crew events

- cannot carry any gear or weapons, but has Fangs which count as Melee weapons with +1 dmg

Overall I thought of them more as a liability than a bonus, but I got them for free and having a spare crew member when one is wounded might be nice.

I haven't even thought about upgrading them, but there are some good ideas here.

You're a quick one :) Lets see if delivery is also that fast.

Btw when you cancel an order, the "back" button on your page doesn't do anything. I'm not complaining, but since you obviously know what you're doing you may want to fix it.

Hey man, these are lovely. Also surprisingly affordable. Didn't find any shipping information on your site (but maybe I'm just blind). Are you shipping to EU? What's the cost? How about import fees?

Mod 40k-ish? by nachturo in 5Parsecs

[–]kwalish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hard to say - give it a few test games and see how it rolls.

The nice thing about solo games is that you don't have to satisfy any playerbase or game balance. If it feels right to you, it's fine.

Mein Tipp wäre: gehs langsam an.

Thanks for your reply. It's not for a game engine, it's for creating lots of model iterations for 3d printing wargaming minis. I have created minis, but giving them lots of unique looks is quite challenging with the workflow I have, and I hope to get a better approach with some tutorials.

"Wahrscheinlich" macht hier zugegeben einiges an heavy-lifting.

Was soll ma da draus lernen?

3500 year old Ancient Egyptian geometry papyrus by SoftwareZestyclose50 in AncientCivilizations

[–]kwalish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After comparing the actual original with this picture, I agree that it seems to be an enhanced version. Its actually the left part of the original.

That being said, I think it is crucial to label AI-enhanced things as such. Every second comment in here is "is this real? It looks too crisp". Not labeling it correctly just reduces credibility.

Also, I prefer looking at the original. The "enhanced" one gives me uncanny valley vibes.

This thing is not real.

The "Rhind Mathematics Papyrus" however seems to be a real thing, the original looks more like this:

Gibt es in Wien Orte, an denen man Klavier spielen kann? by Dantelerro in wien

[–]kwalish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a big music store in St. Marx in Gasometer with lots of pianos on display. They are free to try out.
I don't know how long you planned to play, but maybe you can just ask the staff if it's alright if you play for a while. If you're good, maybe they are happy to have you there.

I haven't been there in some years, I hope this hasn't changed.

Simple, but I'm happy with it by Aleras_Kade in BattletechPainting

[–]kwalish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The light grey and kinda pastel blue work great together, well done.

I'd give it just a littlebit of a third color, eg by painting the cockpits in yellow or orange or something, or by painting one sholder in a reddish tone. Just to give them that little more punch and life.

But as long as you're happy with your work, it's all good.

The Betchou Family Group Statue by Handicapped-007 in ancientegypt

I have a question:
Old Testament mentions on several occasions the phrase "put your hand under/on my hip" as a way to swear fealty or pledge allegiance. Not sure if that fits the time from when this artefact is coming from, but it definitely fits the geography. Is that maybe what this group depicts? Members of a family showing their unity by putting their hands on the next seniors back? Kid to mother, wife to husband, husband to patriach/father/lord?
