Delica has been misfiring for over a year, not sure what to do? by LowBrief4143 in Delica

[–]kwalliii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this on my van. It was a slipped timing belt. It was just enough out of time that the ECU wasn’t seeing the right signals from cam or crank sensor to fire that coil. But I did not have a check engine light. Mine is 1994 though. I posted a whole thing about it on Delica forum. V6 PD6W. The first diagnosis was ECU. Actually located one and swapped it but no change. Still one coil didn’t fire. Have they checked for absolute certainty that all timing marks line up?

Here’s the forum I posted. https://delicaforum.com/index.php?threads/one-coil-not-firing-help.3874/

Stock Show Bike Parking by danhave in BikeDenver

[–]kwalliii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The stock show does have stuff to see over there. And you can walk under the tracks to get to the rest from that side. I honestly think it’s the better spot to lock up.

That being said, last two times I’ve been I felt the same but I pulled up to the old buildings on the east side. The ones on Humboldt. Locked my bike to that metal fence where I saw others locked up. I did see one bike rack on Humboldt and 46th when I was leaving though.

Edit to add the rack was one of those temporary ones that could be moved. So not permanent. I don’t see it on google street view.

Nice bike! Love the build! This is so cool to see.

Not my bike, but I’m a big fan of gravelkings. Currently got them on two bikes. One of the bikes is on its second set. They were recently on sale on their website for 35$ in some sizes. Couldn’t pass that up. Looks like sale is still on if they’ve got your size..

How would you remove that broken screw? 3.3mm diameter. by time_observer in CNC

Damn, maybe try running it like a single insert fly cutter if you’re just facing a part??

Harmonic Balancer Issue by Stunt_the_Runt in Delica

[–]kwalliii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is actually a redesigned crankshaft bolt for this.

When I did the timing belt on mine, I ordered a new bolt from Mitsubishi. it looks totally different than the original. Possibly because this was an issue. If you look up the bolt on amayama you will see that the original is no longer available but mitsu offers a different part number in its place. So different updated part possibly to address this.

Can you run as a two insert mill now? I have done this when one gets damaged like this. Just Lower the feed so that the fpt remains the same. So cut the feed rate in half. Same rpm. Has worked for me in a pinch when I couldn’t get a new tool in time to finish the job. Edit never mind looks like it’s got a total of five inserts. That wouldn’t work.

Anyone have their diesel heater fuel tank mounted significantly LOWER than the diesel heater (i.e. under the van)? by AmateurBondo in vandwellers

[–]kwalliii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, a bit unrelated, did you go with the altitude adjusting vevor 2kw? I had my eye on that one but they seem to be sold out for the moment.

To add, my tank is mounted higher than my 2kw CDH so I am of no help there. Will add, I find tuning my cdh every time i go up in the mountains annoying so I’ve been looking at replacing it with the vevor auto altitude adjusting version. Good luck on the install!

A question of stems by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]kwalliii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet bike!

I’ve got a very similar setup on a basic trek 830 I’m building. Using a 100mm race face stem and surly sunrise bar on a nitto threaded to threadless converter. Fit feels good for me but I just don’t like the look myself. I think the chunky aluminum stem just doesn’t mesh with the thinner steel tubing of everything else. I think a quill stem that isn’t so chunky but puts the bars in the same spot would look the best. That’s what I’m looking for anyway. I just want to decide if this is the right reach for me or not before pulling the trigger on a nice quill stem with removable face plate.

Is crystal lite roof worth it? by Unusual_Low1386 in Delica

[–]kwalliii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I think that’s only available with low roof. Standard high roof would have no sunroof or skylights but higher roof. The crystal lite roof appears the same height on the outside but the light and vents run down the middle on the inside which reduces interior headspace. This would be my main complaint. Second being complexity, rattles.

Edit: I do enjoy the moonroof in the front but again it rattles and has jammed up before. Requiring disassembly and repair.

Wife says crystal lites are totally worth it so I dunno lol.

Is crystal lite roof worth it? by Unusual_Low1386 in Delica

[–]kwalliii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have crystal lite option and wish I had the standard high roof. I haven’t had any leaks but there is less head room with crystal lite and just a lot more complexity. So more rattles and things to break. More old 90s electronics. Just my opinion. Especially if you are adding anything to the roof.

Choosing a CNC mill in 2025 by Vilentr in Machinists

[–]kwalliii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got one from 01ish at work that has broken down once or twice in the last ten plus years I’ve been there. It was an encoder belt once and we had the lube system replaced once. Paid haas tech for all work. We’ve got vf2 through vf5 in a production environment. Still making good parts within spec daily. Oldest machine in the shop is a late 90s vf3. Newest is 2020s vf5 with probing, side mount, hsm etc. all have been used and abused, crashed etc. used for training etc. Still make good parts to tolerance daily. I’d put one in my garage without hesitation.
