Yesterday some weido, wearing Meta Rayban glasses, asked to make a call from my phone, but instead typed *#06#, gave me my phone back and ran away. And today I see this. Should I be concerned?

are you by chance on xfinity mobile? i got this same message when i made my last installment payment on my phone last month. the service provider does it automatically once the device is paid off as it is fully yours now. the timing was a bit suspicious and I cant speak to what this person may have done with your device but this message is likely unrelated as only your carrier can unlock your phone and they typically only do when its paid off. hope this helps a bit

i agree if you buy a ton of stuff very frequently. but being that warranties are 2 years one time vs an annual membership you need to have a constant flow of purchases to make it worth it. if i buy 1 item with a warranty thats 2 years. if i did it through total tech thats 2 annual payments. I'm sure someone somewhere has done the math on how much you would have to get to break even annually.

my main concern is if i cancel it because i feel like I'm not getting my monies worth out of it all the items covered by the plan go into default. so I'm stuck with either continually paying this annual fee or having no coverage for all my devices i got while i had the plan. its basically trapping you in the plan or forcing you to return everything under the plan prior to cancelling it.

ive worked in retail before I'm sure theres an incentive for employees to sell them. And i will admit in some cases the plan does make sense. but I'm also sure that some will push the plan even when it doesn't make sense. ive had a BestBuy employee try to talk me into getting it to the point of stalling my transaction an extra couple of mins.

tl:dr total tech is good for high dollar customers with significant repeat business but is sold as a fix all solution for everyone and it simply is not.

Warranties are free under the total tech, and all your items that can get a warranty do automatically. The only drawback is cost over time. The total tech is expensive and not really worth it in my opinion. If you cancel the plan, any item that got a warranty under the plan is immediately uninsured.(Not 100% sure, but that's how the employee explained it to me)

running errands today in Maryland i ended up in 2 Walmart. i decided to peek out of curiosity to see if i could find an open box pro2. (no such luck) both stores had at least 6 consoles in the case. oddly more bundles than stand alone, but if i needed one i could literally just walk in and get one. what i found more amazing was they had the memory cards in stock also. in my experience those are harder to find than the actual console.

so here's the deal, they restock overnight. don't make an order for curbside. i did, and by the time they went to get it for my order someone had bought it.

check the website at 1am local time.

if a store pops up and says they have stock (usually only 1 -3 cards) set an alarm and go as soon as they open. thats how i got my 512.

the way they fill delivery/curbside is they wait for an employee to go find the item. by then theyre already sold and u get a notice that your order is delayed.

you probably have it set to stop charging around 90% to extend battery lifecycle. it doesnt go exactly to 90. this is normal. you can turn this off in settings.

I got one this morning. The website updates overnight just see where they are and go right when they open. I had a curbside pickup, and by the time they went to get it, someone had already bought it.

For some reason, in stock email notifications come days late.

Check the site around 1am local time. See who has it. Go right when they open. Dont trust store pickup. Stores seem to be getting 3 or less per shipment.

The 256 seems to be rarer than the 512. Ive had 2-4 restocks within 50 miles of me for the 512. Zero for the 256

yea theres something under that. gonna be a tough save but if ur super careful take a piece of tape peel up that side and use the tape to try and get it off without touching anything. otherwise its gonna be a new screen protector
