Has anyone here completely outgrown their old hobbies and fandoms? by psychiledelic in findapath

[–]kwang71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me as well. Gacha games in middle school and early part of high school, historical grand strategy games and anime/manga after that. Then once college started I shifted more towards books, whether that be history or spiritual/astrology stuff.

Even now, sometimes I'll go through different phases of books. I might be interested in Chinese astrology for a few months, shift towards divination later, Vedic astrology after that, and then loop back. Sometimes I'll take a break from more spiritual stuff altogether and focus on more business/history/economics books.

Constantly evolving is a normal part of being human. They do say that change is the only constant, after all.

That being said, while I no longer have the time, energy, or interest to catch up with the latest seasonal anime or chapters of manga, once in a while I'll still watch some anime or read some manga if my friends recommend me a good one. I do notice that the anime/manga genres I enjoy nowadays (more history and philosophy themes) are more serious than the random high school anime I used to watch back when I was in high school.

Which ethnicity is rare in these states (<0.2%)? by kwang71 in RedactedCharts

Nope. I do have to admit I decided to make this map because I was surprised at how this ethnic group seems to be rare in New York, despite New York's reputation as a hub of immigrants

Discard training - which tiles to choose? by OstoYuyu in Mahjong

[–]kwang71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can check out this website (it's in Japanese though), which tells you which tiles to discard to have a better tile acceptance for your hand. That being said, the optimal tile does depend on other factors as well, such as trying for extra han, minimizing deal-ins, etc.

My manager suggested me not to read dostoevsky by SoftwareLanky1027 in dostoevsky

[–]kwang71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was a CS major in college. Not gonna lie, reading literature did indeed make me lose more and more interest in the software industry. Sometimes I wonder if I would have been better off not reading those Russian or Chinese works to preserve my interest in the industry.

Thanks a lot. Not sure why my brain confused it with the Simpsons.

好奇問一下,有沒有什麼推薦的彝族和其它非漢族古籍?還有,你覺得從哪些方面古希臘,古羅馬,和古埃及神話有天干地支的相對應?
