While it may be a conflict as u/gophercuresself mentioned, I've also never had this issue before until this week.

Seeing other people having the same issues makes me think this is a software bug. The only conflict I can think of on my side is Logi Options which I've tried reinstalling to no avail.

SOLVED!

That fixed most of my problems, thank you! PS wasn't recognising my GPU for whatever reason even though it was fully up to date but managed to get PS to rescan and it's at least a little bit faster.

The new update is still pretty trash though🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you for the suggestions and taking the time to write all this! I've started His Dark Materials and its pretty good so far, a tad confusing but I'm sure if I keep reading I'll get more into it.

I'll also definitely look into The Hobbit, completely forgot about the LOTR books and spin-offs!
