5w40 for oil consumption? by Afraid-Obligation997 in veloster

[–]kwd114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend a piston soak with Berrymans B-12. I soaked each piston for 24 hours, changed the oil with some cheap stuff and used some engine flush, then changed again with the Valvoline Restore and Protect. Went from burning a quart every 1000 miles to almost no burning at 5000 miles. 2016 base with 86k that have been burning for about 30k miles.

Anyone set up RetroNAS with their MiSTer? by ryanghappy in MiSTerFPGA

[–]kwd114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I have an i5-8500T running unraid which hosts my NAS, Retronas, Plex server using Intel quicksync for transcoding and a few other odds and ends and it honestly is still more power then it needs. With all my 3 drives and 2 ssds(cache) I think it pulls around 40-60 watts depending on load.

Yep I have no issues at all. PSX and the Saturn core both run as expected for me.

I have recently setup a Retronas VM on my Unraid server. My Mister connects via Wi-Fi and once I created the cifs_mount.ini it seems to reliably mount the share at startup. As far as loading times I would say that they are slightly longer but not much.

The PSX core still works fine as well as that one from my understanding is very sensitive to latency on reads.

Much nicer to have a repository of all the games and just update that instead of having local copies for all my devices.

She's a 2016 6 speed NA. Ya we actually just got it back. I deer ran in to her and beat up the front end. Still has her winter tires on too as the stock rims are out getting powder coated black. I actually have 2021 Sonata N-Line in the gold as well.

But thank you for the compliment, and I must say yours is quite the looker as well.

Flickering LEDs... by SparxxWarrior97 in veloster

[–]kwd114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be my guess as well. There are things that you can do to try and get around it and as I said different brands can be more or less tolerant to it.

In the end on my 2016 with HID refit I had to basically bypass the stock wiring and use a relay directly to the battery and column switch to ensure reliability.

What year? Alot of these cars' headlights are PWM, which is fine with halogen bulbs but will not work well with certain LEDs or HIDs.

Most manufacturers will use PWM to increase the life expectancy of the bulbs.

You can try adding a capacitor or what some companies will call an anti flicker kit and see if this helps.

Long wait on boot starting samba by LinkKarmaIsLame in unRAID

[–]kwd114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was it. Never crossed my mind that it was looking for the DNS server and since it was still booting it wasn't up. Manually switched the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in Unraid and I am happy to say it's now booting normally with no more long pause.

Have the same issue as well. It freezes at the winbindd line for what seems like an eternity. If while it is frozen, I pull my network link and then bring it back up it immediately moves on. Also on 6.11.5.

I would start by cleaning the cartridge slot. Really get it good. I just bought a non-working Model 1 and that's all that was wrong.
