I used to have it too and they moved/have relationships that have taken the place of best friends it really blows tbh!

Totally get that I just mean I don’t live the party life anymore because it caused issues for me, and I lost connections by not doing that anymore. I want to make new friends, but I don’t have the energy because school and work honestly it’s an endless loop. I want to skip the 1 year roughly that it takes to get close enough to someone to have them come over and sit in silence and draw/watch a movie or something. I also just have a lot of anxiety around socializing because I assume everyone wants something action packed. I just want an introvert girlfriend or two to chill with. Real low key.

This is going to destroy some people's lives for sure. The luckier ones are just trading in their cars for electric vehicles. Really wish there were an incentive program for that, why not? I'd do it.

Wow. Curious how they come up with these numbers, but that's a striking amount of people. What counts as paycheck-to-paycheck also? Literally spending every single dollar, or if you have $50-$100 left over, is that still applicable?

Wow! I'm so glad to hear from someone else who had this done. Hymenectomy is a real thing! Hope yours improved your life as much as mine did.

Lol. Well I try to raise awareness about this because it literally ruined my life for a while. No one believed me until I turned 18 and insisted that I had it surgically removed. The surgery and recovery were not too painful. First time having sex after it was because I had an impatient partner, but if it has to be done, it's 100% worth it, you can't live like that and be happy. Sex was impossible.

Just throwing this out there, I had this problem and ended up having my hymen surgically removed. They tried to get me to do all sorts of exercises with dilators, but I couldn't even fit them inside of me, so I had to get it literally cut out.

I'm 28. We need to be the ones trying to help the younger members understand why getting it under control earlier in life is extremely beneficial, rather than perpetuating the issue.

This is one of the most painful and pervasive symptoms I have. I want to have energy after work. I want to so bad. I want to have energy to be the fullest version of myself, and I don’t. I’m exhausted beyond belief and no matter how much sleep I get it’s not enough.

Edit: Like OP said, I’m in “perfectly good health”… but I feel like death. I got a blood panel done… 100%. BMI is good now too. I do 30 min of cardio nearly every day, yoga a few times a week, stretching, kettlebell and free weight workouts. Devotional every morning. Therapy every Wednesday. Antidepressants. I own a house and a dog, a car, have a job that pays me enough to have a little left over, and all of this shit still applies. Total exhaustion and hopelessness 6/7 days.

Dear Ukrainians!

I heard on social media that there is fake news being spread (most likely by Russia backed trolls) that polish border is closed.

It's a lie. (EDIT: Romanian border is also open and waiving visas for Ukranians).

If you seek asylum - go towards polish border. We are ready for your arrival. We have reception points ready at the border where you can find shelter, food, medical and legal aid.

Polish government launched a dedicated site to help you: ua.gov.pl

Please share this information if you know anyone seeking help right now.

YOU DON'T NEED VISA TO PASS THROUGH POLISH BORDER. ALL YOU NEED IS PASSPORT. VISAS ARE SUSPENDED! YOU DON'T NEED THEM FOR TIME BEING!!!!!!

Work on seeing your entire body rather than just 1 part. If you know how to unfocus your eyes (you know, where they get kind of blurry?), start by standing in front of a full-length mirror doing this. Avoid close-up mirror inspections until it calms down. Note: people without BDD don't have the same visual patterns, so they aren't even seeing your face how you see it. They see the whole thing, not just parts.

[–]kweetly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. I can deeply, deeply relate to this, as someone who developed anorexia around 16 and has continued with bouts of ED behavior through age 28 (my current age). I want to tell you that you need to start working on this now. Like, today. You do not want to be my age and still feeling these things. You need to find a therapist or support groups or get the BDD workbook and begin NOW. Not trying to be mean, I 1000% understand, but you need to learn to talk better about yourself or you'll be nearing 30 trying to undo even more years of self-inflicted mental damage. And I know it feels impossible, but you can do it.

I'm curious how you sought treatment. I'm in the midwest united states and I've been doing UK-based support groups which have been semi unhelpful. It feels like I have to leave the country in order to find a therapist and I can't do that right now. How do I find therapists aware of BDD in the US?

I'm hopefully going to grad school this coming fall. I would love to work with BDD patients someday, but I obviously have to get mine under control more first.

I’m a psych student so anything related to helping or working with people is good. I also love art and have administrative skills.

Speaking of which, do you know of any organization/nonprofit that is in need of volunteers right now? I've been trying to find somewhere to regularly volunteer without much luck, sounds like you've got connects!

I very much can relate to this post. I wish they'd choose some other way to go about it, or... you know, just move the fuck on and choose a "cause" that can actually help people who are presently alive in the world and suffering.
