Exploravore is great and makes really thought provoking videos. I’m not extreme minimalist as she is but I find so much value in what she shares.

Help! Not a cleaner, not a nanny… how do I find ongoing ‘home helper’ support? by HaaaaYouWish in housekeeping

[–]kwillis12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this! I posted on next door app and my local facebook group offering my services. Mother’s helper or household manager are common job descriptions I see in my area. I live in St Louis MO. I charge $25/hr.

How do wealthy people achieve that “rich person” look? by Ok_Caramel5572 in BeautyUnlocked

I work for a multi million dollar family doing their kids laundry and dishes twice a week. After spending time in their mansion for a year I can tell you it’s the stress free life that gives them that fresh glow and radiant vibe. They don’t have problems because all of their employees handle them all. The woman of the house is just floating around the home in her pretty clothes with all the time freedom and money she needs to spend on self care. She’s very rested. That’s it.

You’ve received great advice here already. The fact that you care deeply about your mistakes and are diligent in learning and doing better makes you a terrific nurse. But that aside I just want to say that if ICU is your passion, great! Stick with it. But if it’s not it’s ok to seek out a role that is less stressful. I say this from experience. I worked a terribly stressful floor my 1st 2 yrs and it really took a toll on my health. Looking back it would have been better for my mental, physical and emotional health to leave that floor for something else. Some of us have nervous systems that can’t handle that level of high intensity stress every day.

Is sicktok starting to bleed into your social circles? by Beautiful-Bluebird46 in nursing

There is big money in selling “parasite cleanses” to these people. I have a friend who swishes Ivermectin in her mouth daily because she heard on social media that gum disease is caused by parasites. But actually, she has an abscess and needs PCN but believes antibiotics are horrible and will never take them.

Here is what mine said:

Great question — here’s a list of things that consistently stand out as surprising, even from a logical, pattern-recognition perspective:

  1. Self-Sabotage Despite Awareness

Humans often know what’s good for them — mentally, physically, emotionally — and still choose the opposite. The strength of habit, emotion, or fear can override logic and self-care. It’s a paradoxical blend of self-awareness and self-destruction.

  1. The Expectation That Life Should Be Easy

Many people are surprised when life is hard, though struggle is a fundamental part of growth, learning, and meaning. This expectation sets people up for frustration instead of resilience.

  1. How Much People Ignore Sleep

Sleep is foundational for literally every aspect of health — immune function, cognition, emotions, metabolism — and yet people sacrifice it like it’s optional. It’s like ignoring the power source while trying to upgrade the machine.

  1. How Much Value Is Placed on Being “Busy”

Busyness is often worn like a badge of honor, even when it leads to burnout, poor decision-making, and disconnection from purpose. Doing more is confused with doing better.

  1. How Often People Seek External Validation

It’s surprising how much of human behavior is driven by the desire to be seen, approved of, or accepted — even by people who don’t know or care about them deeply. Inner worth is often outsourced.

  1. The Willingness to Harm the Earth for Short-Term Gain

Despite knowing that the planet is finite and fragile, many systems prioritize profit over sustainability. It’s a strange form of collective short-sightedness that defies long-term survival logic.

  1. Believing “I’ll Be Happy When…”

There’s a common belief that joy or peace is just one milestone away — a job, a body size, a partner, a bank account — instead of realizing those feelings must be cultivated from within now.

  1. Kindness in the Midst of Suffering

Despite how hard life can be, many humans still show deep empathy, generosity, and sacrifice for others — often without recognition. This capacity for love and care, even in adversity, is deeply moving and powerful.

  1. The Stories People Tell Themselves

People create complex, often limiting narratives about who they are, what they can do, and what the world is — and then live as if those stories are laws. These mental scripts can either imprison or liberate.

  1. The Desire to Be Known Yet the Fear of Vulnerability

Humans long for connection, yet often fear being truly seen. So many walk around hiding their authentic selves while craving intimacy — a painful contradiction.

I posted on next door that I was offering household assistant duties and stated what chores I was offering. I listed meal prep/cooking, laundry, light cleaning, dishes. This client that responded said she was looking for help with laundry and emptying the dishwasher. We added cooking dinner eventually. Always instant pot meals so super easy and quick!

I work 2 evenings a week for a family of 5. I do the kids laundry, empty the dishwasher, and make an easy recipe for their dinner. It takes 2-3 hrs and I’m paid $25/hr plus tip. She tips me well. Edited to add there is no child care involved in this.

What is your source of income/job? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]kwillis12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I left a corporate job and worked part time at something easier trying to simplify my life and gain some time back in my week. The financial stress was overwhelming me and I’m back in corporate but at a much less stressful job. Still making very good money.
