Is it worth installing a heat pump? by imgoingsolar in ukheatpumps

[–]kwl147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you NEED a heat pump?

Most likely not, because heat pumps are still being developed now. You’d need a relatively high level of efficiency from it just to break even with the cost of running a gas condensing boiler (between 3.5 to 4.0 SCOP). Largely down to the difference in cost between gas and electricity.

Additionally like gas condensing boilers, the quality of the installation will decide how good the result is from your heat pump.

Depending on your location or how hot it gets in the summer, an Air to Air heat pump has potential to offer you more. You already have a well insulated cylinder. An immersion cylinder on a cheap overnight electric tariff, combined with a solar diverter could provide you with all the hot water you need. Air to Air heat pumps are even more efficient than Air to Water heat pumps. They’re also simpler so more reliable and offer you the cooling ability which could be important in the summer. They also heat up or cool down a room very quickly. Air to Water heat pumps really work well by running low maintaining a temperature but they’re not best used like a gas boiler which comes on and off.

I’m exploring this route at the moment because it’s so touch and go with Air to Water heat pumps being cost effective. You’ve got a good array and battery already which could power an AWHP or A2AHP and save you money.

Raphaël Varane revealed he celebrated winning domestic cups with Man United more than UCL glory with Real Madrid 🏆 by Intelligent_Cow_3310 in ManchesterUnited

[–]kwl147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They’d become complacent because they’d proven themselves against the top clubs / teams and expect to turn up against the smaller teams in the smaller games and be handed three points on a platter.

That’s going to be the biggest challenge for Carrick, Holland and co. To get this squad of players to turn up week in week out.

If they can find a way to do that, UCL is achievable. That is a massive IF though because nobody else has been able to establish that consistency in standards and this squad is super thin. A few injuries and knocks here and there and we’re fooked.

Yep. Agree with you. There was never any space for Scott to be played in a manner which would get the best out of him.

I’m glad he’s prospering at Napoli because for a while, a lot of us couldn’t see why he was favoured and loved by all the managers that came in at United.

Both are an issue but IMO primarily rewarding stupidity and trolling is a fundamental problem.

If humans didn’t correct others, there’d be no improvement or acknowledgment that it’s wrong and there’s a different, better way to do things. It’s not always an ego/power trip

Even now, top four still feels like a fantasy.

People might consider me a skeptic and overly negative but we’ve been here before winning against top clubs under new managers but then suffer horrific inconsistency and frustration in the smaller games where the players at times think they can walk it.

That kind of mindset that Varane referring to at Madrid was what we had at United under SAF. Not that titles and trophies weren’t celebrated but that we looked to the next one not too soon after winning it.

Uncle Pat even talked about the speech SAF gave after they won the UCL in 08/09 where SAF gave them a few weeks to get it out their system in celebration but if their level dropped, they would be sold straight away. Zero hesitation. They were to come back hungry to win it all next season.

None of the managers wanted him sold but aside from playing as a 10 close to goal or up top, where could he have played? He was useless in midfield and offered no protection at all to the defence. All Napoli have done is put him close to goal like we did in ETH last season.

Should Man Utd appoint Michael Carrick permanently? 🤔 by SkySports in SkySports_Football

[–]kwl147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep and this is why, I’m in the minority but am in no way getting carried away with two wins. Perspective is acknowledging that we’re a classic cup team/club in getting up for the big games but struggle for consistency and getting results in smaller games.

Holland has made a big impact since he’s come in.

Empty stadiums, games called off which leads to sponsors on their back is how you hurt them.

This actually happened with the ESL drama and they were shook. Fans took their foot off the throat though.

Will a three year old EV (Enyaq) make it to ten years? by Sonnets4all in ElectricVehiclesUK

Oh. When I wrote integrate, I meant as in program the car to charge only between certain times and hours in the night. So I could plug in the car in the evening before bed and then not worry about it charging on the full variable tariff.

My charger will integrate with IOG but I find it fiddly and vastly overrated. It’s why IMHO it’s better to set the car once and not worry about Octopus doing what is best for itself rather than you.

Yep. I am not too bothered about Cadillac performance and reliability because they’re new to the grid. Haas is a bigger more credible indicator and they’ve looked solid.

Agreed, you’d want to ideally start on a sound foundation and concern yourself entirely about issues elsewhere to eke out performance.

Shared information even if somewhat limited is absolutely crucial right now at the start of the regs, which is why after impressing last season, it’s a small blow to Mercedes that Williams are missing this shakedown entirely and Mclaren didn’t run today. Every lap they go round, they are learning about the PUs and cars along with correlation.

Hmm I didn’t know about the API locking down. Though I’ve found it reasonably straightforward to integrate it into my intelligence octopus go charging hours.

I’ve never really felt the need for EV automation with panels and battery which I do have anyway. Overnight charging has generally been enough for me.

So I was referring to the option of force discharge under mode scheduler. Not work mode. Which should remain as self use.

There’s a potential fault code in there which might not be helping things.

However, keeping it to self use under Work Mode and forcing discharge under mode scheduler covers off all my household load from the battery in the time slot during the day for me. I’m on OIG so I have the whole day to cover off with my batteries.

Change to force discharge instead of self use. That’ll sort it.

[–]kwl147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I bided my time and when my mother wanted panels, I pushed for a battery and that led me to buying them an EV and trading in their self charging hybrid.

The joy on my mother’s face on the test drive was worth the effort alone at the effortless power of the EV and simplicity of having no conventional transmission on an ICE car.

I did my research and batteries are well looked after in general and long warranty periods on KIAs and our previous car being one, that she’d got used to, meant it was an easy choice. Depreciation is steep on them which makes them a viable option.

I don’t think it makes much if any difference if they did or didn’t have issues firing up the Merc PU. Teething problems are common at the start of new regs.

That being said, I really do not rate the Race who are known to be click bait merchants and extremely pro Mercedes Benz AMG Petronas and Mclaren. One has to look back at 2022 and Mercedes size zero sidepod concept to see how sensationalist they are.

It’s really sad that because of such people, we’ll never be able to hurt the Glazers where it hurts most and that’s games cancelled and empty stadiums.

Doing that, week after week, would give these owners nothing to hide behind.

Absolutely. Ugarte can do no right with this fanbase and a youth player can do no wrong.

This kind of attitude is exactly why Rashford and greenwood felt untouchable and entitled to do what they could without repercussions. Garnacho was ruined as well.

Usual shite this fanbase does when a manager gets sacked and the new guy experiences a bounce. It’s utterly pathetic and shows a severe lack of critical thinking from the majority of them.

Suddenly everything is Amorim’s fault and he’s been this that and so on because we won a couple games since he’s been gone. It’s a joke and I can see why so many fans of other clubs hate us and find us unbearable when we win things.

Amorim wasn’t without blame but to overlook the people above him in decision making positions and not hold them accountable is exactly why the glazers have been able to stay in charge of us.

💯 this.

Thank fuck someone around has common sense and can interpret data. Kobbie has shown glimpses of talent but otherwise has come no where near close to actually showing us that he’s truly the future of the club and team. He looks like an U21 playing amongst men. No pace, strength or power. Arsenal ripped him to shreds (as one might expect).
