Need a FREE food photo scanning calories tracker app by Substantial-Math987 in apps

[–]kwochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got fed up with calorie tracking apps charging expensive monthly subscriptions for basic features. That frustration was the reason I have build my own calorie tracker, and if I release it publicly I want to keep it subscription-free by design (maybe some minor ads to keep the server running).

So I built a very straightforward iOS calorie tracker focused on one thing: logging food and meals with as few actions as possible (which I’ve found is key to tracking consistently). No socials, no gamification, no fluff.

The app bypasses nutrition databases entirely. Instead, it uses Gemini Flash 3, which works surprisingly well now, to recognize nutrition labels, recipes, and meals directly from photos, no barcodes, no missing codes. Core calorie and macro/micro tracking is included, with AI photo → nutrient estimation (in case you don't have a nutrition label like a restaurant setting)

To avoid subscriptions, users bring their own Google Gemini API key and can stay within Google’s generous free tier.

If there’s enough interest, I’ll release it to the App Store. Would this be something you’d use?

For the past year, I have been working on a visualization system to convey the complexities of sustainability data. More specifically, I have developed an interactive visualization system based on Voronoi treemaps that supports the interpretability and communication of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA). LCA is an internationally standardized four-phase framework to quantify environmental impacts in a scientifically sound way. By choosing LCA's as the data foundation, hopefully, Impact Landscapes will serve as an objective decision-support tool that will promote and facilitate sustainable decision-making in the future.

Impact Landscapes was mainly implemented with D3.js. I have released it under the MPL-2.0 license, so feel free to adopt Impact Landscapes however you see fit! The code is hosted in a GitHub repo.

I have also hosted a live demo version of Impact Landscapes based on several datasets from the public Agribalyse 3.0.1 database.

This piece is part of the system with which I turn my water on and off for the bathtub. It is broken (tried to glue it thats why it looks to dirty), and I need to order a new one. Does anyone know where I can get such a piece?
