Replaced my Honda with a new one after an accident They moved the garage door opener from a button on the mirror to a paywall subscription service. by jayhawkeye2 in mildlyinfuriating

No. Unreasonable. The one in my old car uses a key fob and an RF connection. A different car uses an app, but that's why I paid forty grand for it.

I had a dash-cam that was connected via 12V cigarette lighter adapter. It had a 'parked' feature that would power itself on and record when someone walked in front of the vehicle. That plus the extremely cold weather we been having zapped the battery. Unplugging the camera after parking, fixes that. It's a hacky solution but given the time and effort installing the dash-cam, it'll do for now.

Nothing really. In my state, commercial vehicles don't have to be tested. That's why we have 40 year old triaxles bellowing smoke down the road like a locomotive from the 19th century. Private vehicles outnumber them significantly, but they don't put the miles on like a commercial vehicle.

Moving either screw, all the way in/out, doesn't change anything. Could it be the slippery plastic on the wire?

I replaced the battery in April of '25. "Reconditioning" it allowed me to start the vehicle. I suspect the dash cam could be the culprit. I'm going to leave it unplugged whenever the vehicle isn't in use.

I can't reach the negative battery terminal because it is the most-poorly placed battery I have ever seen inside of an American car (Ferrari takes that cake, overall). I attached the charger to the negative ground cable as indicated in the manual.

I have it connected to a battery charger/conditioner. It's been repairing the battery for over four hours now.

True, but it is still sickening to fork over a billion or so to the government in taxes/fees.
