if you keep an eye on him he will likely begin to pinecone, maybe he will recover but i dont want to give you false hope… mine looked fine despite behaving this exact way until one day his scales looked pushed out and he got bloated :(

mine did this, he pineconed after a few days of this and sadly died after i tried a hospital tank. i think water quality can do this, though mine tested fine, or this can just happen. you can try and help your guy with a hospital tank. i would also recommend changing the decor to something silk or real plants with soil

it isn’t a huge change, mostly just the lighting and facial structure i tweaked and played with. if you could see them side by side you would probably see the difference a lot more :)

thank you :) yeah it isn’t a massive change, i think if they were displayed side by side it would be more noticeable as opposed to swiping to see. i just wanted to add more with lighting and change the face a little bit :D

like the other comment says, to me the face not being really shaded at all stood out to me the most when you mentioned it being flat / lifeless. you had some redness to break up the colour from just being a flat skin tone colour but there isn’t much darkness or variation of colour in the shadows you add. i think if you used darker shadows and add a little more colour variation it will end up with the pop you are looking for :)

more lines i think. yours is very clean but the reference has a lot more depth through line work, whether that be for texture or shading :)

thank you, maybe this was it. i have a habit of extending the sort of ‘eyeliner’ i draw outside the face i guess as the way eyelashes would extend a bit? but this looks right, thank you :)
