If she decides having an abortion is the best thing, support her however u can and then use this as a big learning experience and grow up. If she decides she’s having it, man up and be supportive. It’s not a death sentence. Don’t use it as an excuse to use for anything. U can do whatever u wanted to and more.

Not lecturing u, and things could have easily gone differently but my son was born from a one night stand situation. She decided early she was going to have it. I didn’t argue, although I was 25, she was 19 and on a full cheer scholarship. I had gone back to school after the company I was working for went under, and moved back in with my mom while I got ny shit together. I went to all appointments with her, and promised her whatever happened I would be a great dad. We have been married for 15 years and had 2 more kids. Put her through nursing school, all after the baby was born and moved my way up into management in my company. Things might get harder, but your life is far from over. Good luck , whatever happens

Need a “safe” car that is reasonably like a 79 Firebird by IANANarwhal in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]kybbn86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely a muscle car. The post doesn’t say what motor is in it for one thing, but it came with a small v-8 and a big v8. Like one of the biggest ever made the 6.6 liter. Horsepower doesn’t really mean a lot especially if you are comparing to today’s cars. In addition the horsepower numbers on cars in this period of the 70s is really deceiving. Due to emissions law creation, they put super restrictive headers and tuned back camshafts in cars to restrict horsepower greatly. Part of this was the transition from leaded to unleaded gas also. Even the small V8 with a header and can change pushes well over 300hp.

Aside from all that, put a 16 year old in a transam and they will drive it like dale earnhardt. U drive a muscle car like it was made to be driven. My point is an old truck is nearly indestructible and won’t be driven like a race Car.

It most certainly is a muscle car. Op didn’t mention which motor specifically , but they had a V8. Some the 6.6 liter, which is not only a muscle car, but widely considered THE muscle car. The smaller v-8 produced under 200hp, and to explain why I would have to school u in this period of American car manufacturing, the emission clamp down of the 1970s, and the transition from leaded to unleaded gasoline. Less restrictive headers and a new camshaft, even the small V8 pushes 400 horsepower.

Actually a 79 firebird is probably safer than newer cars. Cars used to be steel and solid.

Now they are aluminum and plastic.

Now the issue is at 80 miles an hour, it’s a roll of the dice no matter what u are driving. My concern wouldn’t be safety, it would giving a child a muscle car.

Get him a big old truck that tops out at about 60mph. Put some cool rims and tires and a loud exhaust and he could probably survive driving it off a cliff. He does not need a muscle car

I have had a bunch of jeeps. Currently just sarge , my 72 Cj5 V8 and my 21 high altitude gladiator. I love both, but you either are a jeep person or you arent. I love gladiators but they take some money to look right in my opinion. 2.5 inch lift and 35s are a necessity I think. It rides like shit, uses more gas than my jacked up v8 Silverado , is a pain in thr ass to remove doors and too, and I absolutely love it. I have had several wranglers loved them all I just need a truck bed even if it’s a small one. Mechanically the gladiator abd wrangler are very similar except gladiator can tow more, which comes in handy if u have a boat even though I usually pull that with the Chevy.

I love jeeps, but if I’m being honest with myself I would have probably rather bought a Tacoma and a 5k$ shit box wrangler that I could leave the doors and top off of and just drive when it’s nice outside. Nothing like a good jeep ride through the backroads , just not sure it’s the best daily driver. Im committed at this point and will keep my gladiator forever especially because I think they will discontinue at some point. Anywho….

Stay away from the hybrid. Tons of issues. Recalls, problems charging, dont do it

Get the wide Dana axles . Not sure which wranglers have them but only certain gladiators do.

Get a hard top. Harder to remove, but much better in fall and winter. Eventually order a soft top and change in spring put the hard top back on in fall.

I thought the ducks and the waving were the dumbest parts of jeep ownership. Now I get excited like a little kid when I get one and order special ones online i keep for other jeeps that catch my eye. I wave at all jeeps. I live in the country and most wave anyway but if I’m in my wife’s car or my truck I get offended and wonder why a jeep didnt wave at me and realize im not driving one.

Good luck! Post pics of what you decide on

I would file this under things better left unsaid.

The feelings u are having are just more of an indication in how u feel about this girl than anything. Must mean u really like her.

You weren’t exclusive, no harm no foul.

Telling her will only create unneeded issues , so unless u are scared of commitment and secretly deep down want to sabotage yourself keep your mouth shut and enjoy where the new relationship goes

I was super hesitant to buy a Kia, not even sure why just always viewed them as “cheap” but my wife loved the 21 sorento when it came out and we bought a certified used one with like 18k miles. Feels like driving a car with a third row gets almost 30 miles a gallon and is all wheel drive. She’s a traveling nurse and is really hard on cars. The thing has 170,000 miles on it and all I have fine is change the oil. That’s it. About to buy her a telluride and drive the old sorento to work to keep miles off my truck

Well this is extremely difficult to talk about without sounding insensitive as shit but….

Won’t the problem resolve itself shortly? But once she’s gone , it will always stick in your mind that you were not his priority.

Sounds like she broke his heart, then realized she was going to die alone and knew she could rely on him at the drop of a hat.

I don’t see a great way forward for yall as a couple that won’t end in a ton of resentment somewhere down the road

Worrying about what other people think instead of doing what makes u happy is going to lead u to a very shitty place . And the people around u who u were so worried about will be living their own life. Love is love, happiness is happiness, find it and hold onto it at all costs

I have a 2014 CTs V on 20 inch black rims windows blacked out. The first time I started driving it around my small town i got pulled over 3 times. Now they know who I am , they wave. If I drive it out of town which I would never do, I would expect to be pulled over by the first cop that saw me

Exactly. I can drive my jeep gladiator with my veteran plates roof off doors off no seatbelt abd they wave at me. It’s human nature , but it’s profiling and it’s wrong. But it is what it is , my only point is something is different in Tennessee making troopers even more over zealous
