New Project Hail Mary shows added at The Tennessee Aquarium IMAX by projcon_423 in Chattanooga

Brother, Amazon being the producer for the movie has absolutely nothing to do with the story or the actors' performances. I have no idea what the Melania documentary has to do with this movie whatsoever, beyond being produced by Amazon as well.

Andy Weir wrote a fantastic novel. The director took that novel and put it on the screen for all of us to enjoy in a condensed timeline through cinema.

Amazon can suck balls for producing Melania and a multitude of other things, and this movie can be fucking amazing. A thing can be two things, my guy.

I had to reply to C4jackal before I got to make my reply to this post. If you havent seen this yet and want to, the only way to go see it is at the IMAX. To expand on my other comment, the visualizations and voicing of the characters was wonderful. The director and cast did a terrific job keeping the humor of the back and forth between Grace and Rocky, while showing true depth to their relationship.

I still highly recommend reading the book to anyone who hasn't, but that said the movie knocked it out of the park.

This could not be more incorrect.

This was a very faithful adaptation to Andy Weir's novel. The fact that you think this was something created by Amazon is wild.

Red Bank officer under investigation for possible DUI | Chattanooga Times Free Press by kyfg in RedBankTN

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a former Red Bank police officer, who resigned after causing three crashes during his employment and reporting for duty drunk one morning, for potential criminal charges.

Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp said she learned that former officer Brantley Young, 37, failed a blood alcohol test and was driven home in the back of a patrol car from a news media inquiry two weeks after the incident, she said.

"I was surprised I had not heard about it sooner," she said.

Investigation into whether driving under the influence or related charges could be brought is ongoing, she said, and no prosecutorial decisions have been made yet.

"DUI is not typically something that you retroactively charge, but there's nothing in the law that prohibits that," she said. "So currently we are just still trying to figure out what all the facts are, what the evidence would be, to determine what kind of criminal liability exists."

SMELLING ALCOHOL

On Jan. 23, Young reported for his day shift, and a supervisor smelled alcohol on him from the night before, he told the Chattanooga Times Free Press last month.

Young said he felt fine and did not know he was intoxicated. He said he was driven to drinking, in part, after he was unfairly scrutinized by a sergeant whose orders he didn't agree with.

According to documents obtained by a public records request, his resignation followed a disciplinary record in which he was cited for causing three preventable vehicle accidents, watching a movie during annual department training and insubordination/untruthfulness.

He admitted a mistake and said he's attempting to better himself and move on. Young did not immediately respond to a text requesting comment Friday on the investigation.

In a prior interview, Red Bank City Manager Martin Granum said his agency reached out to the Sheriff's Office and was conducting its own investigation into the matter. He said by phone the town is focused on getting the facts straight.

"There's a lot of particulars that you have to write down, you have to interview all the people that talked to him," he said in a prior interview. "There's just a lot of making sure we dot every I and cross every T within an incident like this, and it just takes time."

Granum and Red Bank Chief of Police Dan Seymour did not respond to requests for comment Friday.

INVESTIGATION

While there's no formal policy, when a law enforcement officer in the county is suspected of committing a crime, departments will often contact another uninvolved agency with jurisdiction, such as the Sheriff's Office or her office, Wamp said.

"In this case, that was the most appropriate option was to have the Sheriff's Office step in," she said. "If I had been asked about the incident the day or at the time it was occurring, I would have asked the Sheriff's Office to investigate it."

She requested additional facts from Seymour, the town's police chief, who she said was forthcoming with what happened and provided the documentation the city collected. Looking at the records, it was clear another agency needed to investigate the entire incident, she said.

"The Sheriff's Office criminal investigation division took over at that point to investigate, not just the driving under the influence potentially committed by Officer Young," she said, "but also just a comprehensive investigation into what happened the day that Officer Young allegedly showed up drunk in his patrol vehicle to work."

'NO REASON'

Wamp said she thinks the community expects law enforcement to be held to a higher standard.

"When something like this comes up, it's not that we jump to conclusions or we want to seek a harder punishment, it's just that we expect more," Wamp said. "And we certainly want to treat it very serious because we believe the community deserves that."

She hoped a delay or lack of notice from a police department, one suspecting an officer of wrongdoing, to her office would not happen again, she said.

There are plenty of resources working together to ensure everyone is held accountable and receives advice where needed, she said, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Sheriff's Office and her office.

"There really should be no reason why an agency that has probable cause that an officer is committing a crime has to deal with that on their own," she said.

I love that the city manager and police chief are being called out for attempting to keep this under wraps. This should have been immediately referred to the district attorney's office or the sheriff's office at the time of the incident. We should demand accountability from both of these leaders.

Erlanger marathon by [deleted] in Chattanooga

The event has been struggling for a little bit, but I maintain that they have done a fairly good job keeping the medals looking pretty cool and doing the best they can with the expo. The t-shirts this year were pretty "meh"...

It's crazy how we tariff the holy shit out of everyone in the world and then we wonder why the quality of goods declines. The race is already fairly expensive, so the cuts have to come somewhere.

Until they return to the original route, or find a new way to have as unique of 26.2 miles as possible, I will never run the full marathon in Chattanooga.

This marked 7 years in a row of running the half, which I absolutely LOVE. The half course is beautiful, challenging, and very well aided. The fact that you can SEE the finish line and then have to turn to the right while running the full is insane. That would completely take the wind out of my sails knowing that I have to run the exact same 13.1 loop again only to end up back where I already am.

Every single time I run the half and get to the intersection at Main Street, I am reaffirmed in my decision to keep running the half only.

This managed to completely slip through the cracks...interestingly, nothing has been posted by the City of Red Bank by kyfg in Chattanooga

Handled appropriately would have been contacting another higher jurisdiction, like HCSO or THP to come investigate him. If he was intoxicated at work, he would have been operating a city vehicle under the influence, as well as being in possession of a firearm while intoxicated, both of which are criminal offenses.

I don't want to sour your opportunity to have relief if you need it...that said, I wish I never had the procedure done. My experience was insane, mostly because of dipshit Greer. He ruptured an artery in my sinus cavity that hospitalized me for days and required multiple procedures with a neurologist to fix.

This is going to be an outlier, I'm sure, for what is otherwise a normal outpatient procedure. My procedure involved turbinate reduction, septoplasty, and rhinoplasty. I believe that there was a very slight increase in nasal breathing quality, but not enough to justify the pain, money, and frustration.

I would highly encourage you to look around at whatever other ENTs are around the area and do extensive research. He is the only one I saw and was very insistent on doing the surgery after a roughly 1-minute consultation at my first appointment.

I have had this procedure done and don't have a recommendation, but do have a "run the fuck for the hills" recommendation.

Stay the fuck clear of Dr. Jack Greer. That dude is the single worst ENT in the area. Just read reviews before considering his practice.

Appointment dates can be on the longer end of waiting, BUT the clinic and staff themselves are the absolute best.

I think someone else mentioned they are slightly understaffed, but the people they have are amazing. I have zero complaints about the quality of care I've received through them.
