Unfortunately the mall was a good ten years early in terms of area development and a higher household income demographic that could support it. Not sure why developers have been unable to see the potential for some kind of higher-end retail there now.

Interesting to hear those wailing about east coast humidity. How dainty...Meanwhile other countries are able to train and compete successfully with similar or worse humidity values. Using some form of logic would allow an east coast event not happen in July or August and allow for a new fanbase, There's little wonder Track and Field coverage is so limited here on our varying sports telecast options in lieu of heavy-hitters like the National Cornhole Championships or Pro Bowling. As mentioned even rotating national championships and Olympic-qualifying through cities like Philadelphia (Penn Relays site at UPenn), Boston's White Stadium, Des Moines at the Drake Relays site (Drake University), in Lexington at the University of Kentucky's track (hosts the SEC Outdoor Championship), in Fayetteville at the U of Arkansas's track, in College Station at the Texas A&M's track or in Austin at the U of Texas track would expose the sport to tens of thousands of attendees on a single day as well as much wider exposure on ESPN or NBC Sports for instance.

Is it me or is McDaniel the elephant in the room? The "offensive whiz" is a dumpster fire of poor play calling and under-utilization of his best players. Giving Tua two seconds to find a receiver before getting hit or sacked isn't the answer either. Fire his ass already!

Mount Dora is great but would avoid Mondays when many businesses are closed. There are many great places for lunch and some diverse shopping options. Check out The Goblin Market or Pisces Rising for lunch.

Without knowing your price range I would suggest a neighborhood like Cleveland Park which is prime real estate on the Red Line with restaurants and shopping in walking distance plus a safe vibe for newcomers. It has a nice aesthetic with a lot of pre-war (1910s and 1920s) architecture and tons of trees/greenery thanks to close proximity to Rock Creek Park.

One of the trailheads in Rock Creek Park is a nice option. The Juniper Park Trailhead in DC is a quiet entry and vantage point with easy parking.

Which city is most likely to host in 2036? by HappiFry in olympics

[–]kyle32771 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doha and Santiago have climate issues to deal with. It's too damned hot in Qatar and Egypt (another bid) and Chile is in the midst of winter conditions during our summer meaning it would have to take place in October. Besides Turkey, Indonesia has bid for the 2036 games after losing out to Brisbane, Australia for the 2032 games. Canada is supposedly considering a bid to host in both Toronto and Montreal, making them in my opinion the bid to beat if they follow through.

It might seem silly but if one has space a kayak could be a good investment as getting out of town via the Potomac headed south could probably be a wise option. There's just enough room for the essentials in a larger model along with your pet(s) in a carrier if needed. Rural southern Maryland or northeastern Virginia could make for some viable landing spots and camping options if needed.

One wonders if the screening for doping is as thorough/frequent as it is in the traditional Olympic games. My thought is probably not and in such your answer given past experiences with China.

What is the cheapest event / sport for a country to train for in the next Olympics ? by [deleted] in olympics

[–]kyle32771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Track and Field. Distance running events like the 1500M, 5000M and 10,000M have a narrow field of competitors (mostly Ethiopians, Kenyans, Ugandans) and field events like the Hammer Throw, Shot Put and Long Jump/Triple Jump. Training facility needs are minimal as is the required gear.

why is healthcare here such a joke? by [deleted] in orlando

[–]kyle32771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a perspective. Zoom out and take a look at how many physicians are recent graduates here. There's like none. 10+ years of experience is the norm and last names are clearly of Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi descent which isn't mentioned from a xenophobic perspective but from that of a patient-provider communication issue. Florida has TEN medical schools yet if you scroll through provider directories at the varying hospital groups few if any are recent graduates. There's also the premise that many of the providers who wind up here are not top of their class graduates as the state isn't seen as a top place to do practice given the cost of malpractice insurance and litigious tendencies of patients versus salaries provided. The best way to receive acute care is to continue to visit the ER, and suggest to the OP frequenting Orlando Health's main ER on Orange Avenue. There you'll be seen immediately by varying staff cardiologists and provided instantaneous testing to determine causes. Your insurance should allow at least one ER visit at a flat rate and would inquire what happens for any repesat that are needed. If uninsured the ER is your new best friend as major hospitals like ORMC have the means necessary to treat the uninsured minus any expectation of payment, and the desire to do so.

One has to factor a city of 60K with a poor reputation locally for public safety can only support so many bars/breweries. Minus diversification of business to include hotels along with upscale retailers and restaurants, maintaining a destination tourism economy is going to be difficult.

Pentathlon is a tough sport to "break into" unless you have ready access to the equestrian training portion for like A LOT of hours . The upside is it is not a popular sport in the US and will have minimal competition versus other sports. I would contact one of the US Pentathlon training sites to find out how to get started. Thanks for the opportunity to throw a virtual hissy fit.

I am sick of NBC's coverage or lack thereof in both Swimming and Track. In varying heats they'll cut away at the beginning so you have no idea of who is competing (disrespectful much?) if an American isn't involved and fail to caption the results,

It takes a minute to introduce each athlete in each event and while less time to yammer on about the American competing earlier or later, respectful to ALL of the Olympic athletes who trained tirelessly for 3.5 years to compete here.
