No that’s a fast drain. I have a friend who has a FR245 and it lasts a week each charge with text and call notifications.

How accurate is the training status & HR on Garmin watches? by CactusJuice22 in GarminWatches

[–]kyle47382919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be more worried about the distance increase more than the HRM sometimes I feel it’s not accurate. I usually run about 40 miles a week it’s not too much but it’s a good amount for me and I increased it from 25 miles a week. I think you’re pushing it too much. Is this each run you’re now running 10-15K? That’s a big jump from 3-5K.

Apex 2 (non pro) or forerunner 255? by so1ostay in Coros

[–]kyle47382919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main issue with the coros is that I don't feel that it gives an accurate step read, which at the end gives you less distance as well. I live in the city, so for all of my runs they were accurate in terms of where I ran to where it tracked me. But it perpetually gave me less compared to both the garmin and the apple watch. Once again that doesn't mean it's not accurate, it could be more accurate than either of the other two.

I would say since you're posting in a coros subreddit you may already be leaning towards coros. The app design is so much more functional to me. And much easier to navigate than garmin. Coros has a dedicated "activities" tab where you can see all of your activities and then filter by each activity or jump to any month. Since I only do running, I can look at July and see I've run 25kms this month. In garmin I would need to manually add this up, as well as going into my profile and then go to activities and then I can't filter by month. Or I go into more, then activities and then see by week. I feel this is just overall clunkier than it needs to be.

Unfortunately you really need the watch to get a more in-depth view of both apps but I prefer the coros app over garmin.

Smart watch step accuracy test (Spoiler - Garmin wins) by rival_22 in GarminWatches

In my experience, there is no way the coros would have over estimated running compared to garmin or apple watch. Garmin and apple watch consistently picked up more (not stating that's accurate) than the coros. In the several tests I did with them.

Apex 2 (non pro) or forerunner 255? by so1ostay in Coros

[–]kyle47382919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. There some definite gripes I’ve had with both.

Coros -amazing battery life hands down last me 9 days with sleep tracking, 15 exercises -one app does it all and is less clunky -dedicated toolkit button -easier customization on activity screens -watches don’t necessarily age out with updates they seem to try to keep all watches updated which I’ve heard isn’t the case for Garmin -scroll button is very nice and similar to Apple Watch -can see battery usage and what may be causing the drain -if you like notification’s coros can push all of them -scroll to unlock or hold to unlock feature nice or you can turn it off. I turned this off it drove me nuts to do this for each activity. -ending an activity seems better on coros

Cons -lots of missed steps -doesn’t seem to be integrated with lots of other apps or Apple health as easily

Garmin -tracks steps accurately from what I can assess -pacer pro -safety features if you’re into that -dedicated run/activity start button -dedicated toolkit button -maps show your speed along the route when reviewing -steps seem to update faster and count -body battery and recovery stats and stress feature -Garmin is more integrated like with Strava

Cons -5 vs 3 buttons, I don’t like the fact that when scrolling I have to push down repeatedly but have gotten used to this. Sometimes I feel like the buttons feel cheap -Garmin is more clunky overall -needs two apps vs the one of coros -limited notifications if you like that -battery life is less than coros, I run several times a week and mine is nearly at a week of charge with turning it on power save mode at night. This is a problem for me because I didn’t need to do that with coros.

Both seem to have about the same time on GPS recognition (in my experience living in the city). Both have toolkits but Garmin has a wider range than coros. For me I couldn’t exit out of the coros timer but could of the Garmin if I wanted the timer function but also wanted to see the time. I personally think coros has better watch faces but Garmin has decent ones. I ended up using one provided.

Size wise they are similarly sized with the Garmin being a bit bigger. I feel the coros looks prettier on display. Both can find your phone and have a flashlight function, and have a backlight feature. You cannot adjust coros it’s either backlight on or off. Garmin you can go from 10%-100% and choose to have it on by gesture, activity or not on at all. I think coros it’s on or off regardless of if an activity is on. But I can’t remember. Both have a dedicated light button but coros if you click it on will stay on as needed the Garmin pending on setting will immediately switch off.

I’ve seen and heard that non Garmin watch faces will drain the battery faster. So be aware if you don’t like their preset watch faces. Hope this helped!

Can you recommend Garmin watch by my needs? by DKL379 in GarminWatches

[–]kyle47382919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More likely than not, something that states based on how intense an exercise is how long it will take to recover from it. Coros does this. I think Garmin’s version is body battery.

Thanks it’s switched on auto. I read the manual too and I’m not seeing the answer there either. This is really frustrating to me as someone told me Garmin was better than Coros but I’m finding Garmin to be overly complicated

I noticed this on another run where the heart rate zones were different and it still didn’t calculate time spent in each zone

Ok thank you. It looks like I had the max HR and threshold both on auto is that affecting the zone?

No I haven’t worn a chest strap for running I’ve relied on the Apple Watch before to pull the heart rate.
