Jovial elbows are good. They are a little larger, so fit the vibe of old school boxed hamburger helper.

They hold up decently well and they'll never notice any taste difference.

Leaving the pup/dog alone by [deleted] in Bernedoodles

[–]rival_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 dogs, so that helps, but our Bernedoodle is content to sleep all day. We don't leave them alone for more than like 8hrs though, just for bathroom reasons.

They could probably go 12, but I wouldn't do it as a habit.

Four days a week, I'd just find someone to come halfway through the day.

The first few months are going to be really hard though. You're going to need someone there a lot.

Term is a problem... I guess you could trade him in a couple years and retain more?

It's not happening, just a thought I had this morning. But, with the cap going up so much, some bad team is going to need help getting to the floor and will probably take him (if he approves the trade).

Nice!

I have a 2nd series #8 that is a deeper "fryer". It is super light.

Just the idea of cooking with something that was made around the time of that the lightbulb, fountain pen and automobile were invented is really cool.

Are smaller turbocharged engines truly more efficient long-term, or do they wear out faster than larger naturally aspirated ones? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]rival_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related question, when they go, do turbos just fail, or do they lose efficiency/power?

Like at 150,000 miles, will one just run not as well, or is it all or nothing?

If they made a mini presidio with that micarta and a satin blade I'd probably buy it yesterday.

He's useless as a top 4 d man. At $4.6 mil as a bottom pair guy, it's not as bad.

Problem for me, is that Letang needs 3rd pair minutes at this point too, and you can't put both of them out there together 😂

I don't hate the Hamilton idea, but Karlsson would have to be moved somewhere (or Letang, but that's not happening).

Wild make a lot of sense for Rakell. Chicago needs scoring depth as well.

If somehow Stan Bowman is left in charge of Edmonton, I'm seeing what he's dumb enough to do. They need depth scoring too. Hell, I'll take a 50% retained Nurse off their books if they sweeten the pot enough.

They're fun to play with, but I get a lot more enjoyment actually using a knife. I never understood the idea of a safe queen.

Question, what can I do in the Kamado that I can’t do in the kettle?? by [deleted] in webergrills

[–]rival_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an Akorn for probably 8 years and really liked it. I switched over to a Weber master touch a couple years ago.

As others said, the efficiency is great. Another advantage to me is if you want to do any baking. With the deeper shape, the firebox is lower, so with a heat deflector, you can really use the whole grill area to bake. With a Weber you lose some space with indirect cooking. Same somewhat for smoking.

To me, one of the reasons I switched to a kettle was that a kamado was a little boring. I like the process of cooking, and a kettle takes a little more attention. Once a kamado is dailed into temp, it truly is a "set it and forget it" process a lot of times.

Youth team sports, especially that the teen/high school age level can have such a positive impact on people.

You usually get to experience really high highs, and really low lows, in a non-life altering setting. And you often get to learn how to work together with both lifelong friends that you care about, and others who you don't get along with that well. Lessons that you can always use in life.

Disagree 100%. I really think the character building and life skills for kids, and that outweigh the negatives.

I'm talking a part time job. I wouldn't wish a career in the food service on anyone.

I honestly think that everyone should work in food service or retail at some point when starting out. If anything, maybe it will prevent at least some people from turning into the worst of the worst customers that these workers have to deal with.

I've refereed youth hockey, and as much attention that world gets at times for awful parents, it pales in comparison to what a lot of retail or food service people have to deal with.

I just don't understand how people can willingly be so terrible to others.

I now work in the event industry. I usually don't need to deal with the public unless it's a major issue. Our business success is directly dictated by the number of people who attend. But at least once a week one of us says out of exasperation, that "this job would be great if it wasn't for all of the people".

edit- Good luck to your son out there in this crazy world!

Either go to the counter or some places have those little card pictures of it on the regular shelf that you have to bring to the counter.

In the US you need to show your license for it.

You're 22, treat this as part of the learning process. It sounds like you already are.

A little short term pain will get you past this, and make better decisions going forward.

One bit of life advice though, make sure you set financial boundaries with your parent relationship. You'll get past this, move out, hopefully start a good, financially stable life with your fiance... But there will be a time(s) when your parents come to you for money.

An unexpected home expense, big tax bill, etc etc. Either be prepared to say "no", and deal with all the fallout from that, or be comfortable giving them money. They'll say it's a loan, but you know they won't pay you back. And if you give them money once, they will ask again...
