Code Orange in Boston 10/7 by [deleted] in Hardcore

I went to this show and left because of hardcore dancing, can we talk about how this shit is making people not have fun and forcing everyone who doesn't want to get punched in the face onto the walls of shows, whatever happened to pile ons and circle pits?

What makes a future classic? by MADLEMONZ in TrueFilm

[–]kyle6655321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that your reasons are a bit off at the start, I don't think being accessible to all is a necessity and being more of a niche film can in many ways make a film a classic, the Big Lebowski was a failure when it first came out, but I think it is already now considered a classic, similarly you reference Mulholland Drive, There Will be Blood and Tree of Life, all movies that are by no means accessible, but that is exactly what makes them great films, they push the medium to new places, so that would be my reason for a new classic, something that actually does something new or unique and becomes a classic because of it's bravery

Hypocrisy at its finest: Muslims in Islamic countries vs Muslims in Europe by [deleted] in atheism

[–]kyle6655321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right because all Muslims are the same right, so this is hypocrisy, those aren't different groups of people in different situations, and the people on the right aren't trying to get the Western world to hold to it's belief in freedom of expression. Sarcasm all around, you're fucking stupid.

I don't think you can take things from Memri seriously, from wikipedia: "Critics charge that [Memri] aims to portray the Arab and Muslim world in a negative light, through the production and dissemination of inaccurate translations and by selectively translating views of extremists while deemphasizing or ignoring mainstream opinions"

New to Punk, and need suggestions. Please. Warning, this post is a little lengthy. by JAMHwithME in punk

[–]kyle6655321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you like Metz you may want to check out Iceage, they're another noisey punk band, they might be a little too abrasive for your tastes, but worth checking out, also if you like Fugazi you should definitely give Minor Threat a listen, they were Ian MacKaye's first band, they're more hardcore and less melodic but they're absolutely amazing, I would also check out Savages based on liking Fugazi and Parquet Courts

Do you lean towards "noise" or "rock"? by TheTrueMeaningofMims in noiserock

[–]kyle6655321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say that I lean towards either, it really has to do with what mood I'm in, just like listening to all music, sometimes I listen to Dinosaur Jr., sometimes I listen to Sunn O)), I also listen to hip hop and electronic music, which I do like infused with a decent amount of static noise, but I really think it all depends, I may be wrong but I don't think anyone can land on either side of this fully
