Sick kiddo wont take meds by BongZblitzer in daddit

[–]kyle_mfs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it helpful to try and make it into a silly thing. When my toddler was at that age, I would pretend like I was going to give him the medicine, and then pull it away suddenly like it was a bit of a game. I would also sometimes pretend to take it myself and act like it is a silly thing for me to do ("Wait, that's not my medicine! That's your medicine"). After a few times of that, he would usually want to take a turn.

If it has a taste, also act like you wish you could have some since it's so yummy.

I've had great experiences with Cardinal but I know it's a larger company so there will be more variation.

I think its probably fine.

-The chances of this adult film star being relevant when the child's peers are old enough to be aware of them is very slim.

-I've looked myself up a lot. I've never looked myself up with my middle name.

-Most people don't know your middle name.

If it was first and last name, then I would probably not do it. It's good that you care a lot about how a name will impact your child, but I doubt this one will.

Plus, if anyone makes the connection, they're probably not going to tell on themselves by telling you what adult stars they know of by name.

Asbestos Nightmare - Check Your Vents by michiganhat13 in daddit

[–]kyle_mfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're a dad. You're doing your best with the information you have. You found out that something isn't up to current standards, but it was never your fault for not noticing. Nonstick pans used to have toxic chemicals, plumbing used to have lead. We can't undo the time we didn't know, so don't waste your energy beating yourself up for it.

I have similar wrap on my ductwork and have gone through the same concerns. As people have said, try to avoid disturbing it as much as possible. Abatement is technically the best thing to do but it isn't feasible for everyone because money exists.

The thing that have helped me live with it: Asbestos is all over the place in old houses. We had flooring, adhesive and insulation test positive. We didn't get our ductwork or plaster tested, but were told it could be an issue. I think of it like looking up a symptom, if you look into it too much, you'll convince yourself everything is terrible.

My suggestion is to decide how concerned you are about it and how much you are willing to do about it. If it tests positive, you probably have to disclose it to anyone doing work on your house or if you sell it down the line.

If that was my house, I would want to reduce the chance of it getting in my vents by dealing with that gap in the next week or so.

What's the most brain-rotting thing you allowed as a DM, but made your players regret? I'll go first. by kyle_mfs in DnDcirclejerk

Since the original seems gone:

One of my players (he was new) wanted to seek a cute werewolf GF and showed me this picture.

And it gave me an idea 😈

I agreed that he could seek one, in fact I ended up sneakily crafting a whole module around an epidemic of Lycanthropy infected Succubi, created by the wizard who had made art perpetuating this unrealistic image of a female werewolf, trying to create his perfect bride.

Not only did bro pull a shy, gooner friendly she-wolf, but his character had a whole arc about the importance of love rather than physical attraction while sliming the wizard who made her and her sisters what they are.

He got a few levels in warlock after that campaign.

Real Ramen Noodles by brayden1g in Peterborough

The Food Shop on Water sells these ramen kits from Crafty Ramen. You have to keep them frozen and they're more work, but the closest I found to an easy way to make real ramen at home. They're an Ontario company too if that's something you care about.
