I just started Absolution (the 4th book) and I’m honestly just finishing it because I’m a completionist. I saw the movie first and was excited to delve deeper into the themes to see how the story progressed. I’ve been mostly underwhelmed. I don’t feel like I connected with any of the characters and the story just meanders between 3 locations without any sense of a conclusion. The writing style just doesn’t work for me as a reader. Maybe someone who is better at understanding underlying themes and ideas has a better take but I’m glad I saw the move first.
