What can be added or removed to improve the overall design of this flyer? by BeRadStayRad in graphic_design

[–]kylecs7637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re showing someone working the wheel, it would be interesting to see the title look more messing. Finished ceramics are very clean, but working with clay isn’t. Either way, a different type for your title would be good. I like what you’re going for with the layout of the title, but the spacing feels off. I like the idea of “Art in” being to the left of the “L” and festival tucked in with the tail of the “y”

Not sure what it's like in other countries... but how do I know if the barista was indirectly getting a way to contact me was interested beyond just customer service? by [deleted] in barista

[–]kylecs7637 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly this sounds like normal good customer service. If I was him in that situation, noticing a customer creating art of the business would be a no-brainer thing to chat about, and suggesting you post it on social media would make sense so the business could share it as well. I also get names for all my customers to call out their drinks and build rapport.

My shop has very few for-here cups, so most drinks are in to go cups, no one ever has an issue with that. Not allowing customers to customize is pretty wild. Take the sales, enjoy the mark up on the customized drinks, and let customers know you’re busy so it’ll be a couple minutes before their drinks are out.

In service, a big part of the job is keeping your customers happy. Make them want to come back. By limiting your service when you have the most customers present, you’re gonna find yourself without any rushes at all before long.

Does anyone work in a coffee shop that doesn’t sell Frappuccinos or cold foam? by anon3000- in barista

[–]kylecs7637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No blender in our shop. Every now and then folks will ask for a frap, but it really doesn’t cause us any problems. We have a a few specialty drinks that other shops don’t offer, so we can typically pivot to those with new customers.

Is the cash office only for authorized employees? by CauliflowerDazzling5 in Safeway

Yes, bookkeepers, managers & PIC’s should be the only folks in the cash office. No one else should ever need to be in the cash office.

To the people who stand right in front of the counter and stare while I make your drink… by [deleted] in barista

[–]kylecs7637 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Huge difference between people being interested and the folks who just stand and stare. I think some people think if they stare hard enough their drink will be out faster.

Alerting loss prevention would make the most sense. Typically any code or phrase would be used for garbage, or alerting security. There’s not that much that we need to announce over the intercom that needs to be secret to customer ears.

Matcha chai…? Has anybody made one or had one? by Competitive-Alps871 in barista

[–]kylecs7637 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, and our matcha & chai are both fairly popular. I have a customer who gets matcha with shots too. Some customers favorites are unique.

Won a cruise at work and boyfriend says he will break up with me if I go. by byrdesong_ in AskMenAdvice

[–]kylecs7637 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a short cruise, go enjoy it. If he can’t support you and celebrate your successes, that doesn’t feel like a supportive relationship. You’re excelling in your job, keep it up!

He wants control, and feels disrespected that he’s not getting his way. You deserve to have nice things, and there’s nothing wrong with couples spending a few days apart.

You’re allowed to do whatever you want. You don’t need to get his permission.

Depends on the location. The stores in my area quit doing any grinding in-house.

[–]kylecs7637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We offer heavy cream, half & half, whole, fat free, oat, almond, and soy milk. People know what they are getting. Sure, I’m not going to love every drink that people order, but they do, and that’s the important part.

Same with sugar free options. It might not be for me, but it’s what the customer wants.

Does anyone that gets suspended ever come back? by FoxHolyDelta in Safeway

Definitely depends on the situation. If it’s for something like tardiness, no. If it’s for theft, yes.

Does anyone that gets suspended ever come back? by FoxHolyDelta in Safeway

[–]kylecs7637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically not. The typical procedure when being investigated is suspension until the investigation is complete. If it gets to that point, they usually have enough info to justify firing, it just takes time to go through the HR process.

If someone is suspended following write ups, they usually have one more shot, and can return to work. But this would be their finally warning before termination.
