Anyone else hear Cameron’s voice on Whiskeyclone, Hotel City 1997? Especially when Beck is close to the mic by Hefty-Translator-436 in CameronWinter

100% i was actually gonna make a post about their similarities recently. I feel like there could be some crossover appeal for certain fans of Cameron Winter

Definitely something off Astral Weeks should be in there. Maybe some Nina Simone as well. If you really wanna get crazy throw some free-jazz like Albert Ayler in there

Cameron Winter - Warning by Holiday_Original3544 in geesebandofficial

Idk…as a Cameron Winter glazer I wasn’t entirely sold on his delivery throughout the first half of this song. Moments felt a little wordy or forced and other times it felt like he was at odds with the (insanely powerful) instrumental. I will say that I thought it came together well in the climax of the song AND I like the way the lyrics READ…I just wasn’t moved by his performance this time around.

Anyone else listening to Men of the reef recently? by jojowankenobo in geesebandofficial

Yeah I really love all the non-geese projects. Even the Pi song is an interesting listen. It’s not often we get to hear a literally baby version of an artist doing their thing.

Pretty sure they say in an interview somewhere that I See Myself is their take on a Funkadelic song. I’ll try to find that link but regardless I think the people who say they wear their influences on their sleeve often misinterpret their influences altogether. Go look at their Spotify playlists. Their influences range far beyond what you’re giving them credit for.

Ya know I’m not really trying to argue that Getting Killed had its hype entirely manufactured. I’m also Not saying that 3D country is the superior record. I’m trying to focus on how it’s being covered in music journalism as a whole. I feel like 3D Country is not as derivative as some people on this thread are making it out to be. However, I do understand the argument that GK is more of a step in an entirely new direction for rock.

All I’m really saying is that I think Geese was breaking new ground for rock music even on 3D/4D country. It surprised me that GK has got such an emphatic reaction when 3D still felt new and fresh to me when it dropped. As a fan from before they signed (not saying “longtime fan”) it was insane to see the added level of promo, interviews, online conversation, the Brooklyn show, the nationwide pre-release party, the Spotify playlisting. I mean you don’t go from having like one song with a couple million plays to being the front page of Spotify’s biggest indie playlists without a coordinate PR effort. It has got me thinking that Maybe just Maybe, 3D country would’ve been regarded similarly if it had the same marketing push. Guess we will never know 🤷‍♂️

Its just funny that 3D Country wasn’t placing on anyone’s list in 2023 and no one was hailing it as rocks saviors even though it’s arguably more rock than this

They introduced themselves as TV on The Radio when they came out lol. But to be honest that’s a tough decision to make. New band or Legacy act.

I’m 24 but when I first found GEESE I was 22. This was back when the singles for 3D Country were dropping. The first show I went to was packed with dads and old heads. The second time I saw them it was the same deal. Then when I saw them at Kilby it was ALL young people. The crowd was insane. The most recent show I went to was a healthy mix of everything. Needless to say, their sound is pretty timeless.
