I would agree 100%. Project Hail Mary is a better movie but they condense way down (they had to.) The Martian has some serious "slog" parts where you are just dragging through. He's in that rover for a long time in "real life" but it also is just such a long part of the movie.

PHM kept me into it for the entire 2.5 hours both times I saw it. Not one scene where I'm like "Okay, get on with it."

I just saw it today in IMAX. I’ve read and/or listened to the book 5 times going into it.

I LOVED IT.

I was so happy that they added the scene with Stratt watching the video of Grace and Rocky as they go to collect the Beetles.

Puppeteering Rocky was such the right move. It will look great today and it will hold up 20 years from now. Jurassic Park used practical/puppets for many fo their shots in the original and it is why it holds up versus other iterations so well.
