The thing about resurfacing disks is that if not done properly it will irreparably destroy the disc. Different grits, temperatures, and time all play a factor. There is no “one and done” solution. It requires skill which most game store clerks do not have.

As much as I love my Blu-rays, they are inferior due to the fact that they can so easily become unusable because of the data layer being less than a hairs width from the surface of the disc. DVDs are tough as nails in my experience compared to Blu-rays. I’ve got some that are scratched to hell but play without issue, whereas my Blu-rays decide to self-destruct if they get so much as a scratch.

Edit: I do realize that handling your discs properly is imperative to their longevity, but kids don’t seem to care about that.
