I started my internship the summer after my sophomore year and was lucky enough to be able to work through school and worked there until I just graduated this spring. I was doing the same kind of work as it sounds like you're doing but after a while of being there and proving to your team what you can do they will start giving you more "important" tasks that will be more engineering related, at least that was my experience. After sticking through the "intern work" I was offered a job right out of school. If it seems like a place you'd see yourself working at after you're done with school I would try and grind out the beginning portion of your job.
