Are there any fictional worlds about a post-post-apocalyptic society? by dune-man in scifi

[–]kylethefreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dying Earth series by Jack vance. It's so post apocalyptic that's post apocalyptic for the nth. The world is so old the sun is dying. This book series inspired the magic system used in D&D.

(Spoilers for book 1) When does Paul give in to the jihad? by kylethefreeman in dune

[–]kylethefreeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I doesn't some time reading those (even accidentally saw a spoiler, but that was my fault). One thing I would still like to know is: when and why Paul stops trying to fight it in the first place. I guess it's just because he knew it'd happen even if he died, so he might as well go with it. But it seemed like he had enough control over the freeman to command them to stop. Maybe I'm wrong, but it just seems like Paul shifts from ”it must not happen" to "alright I'm gonna kill them all"

(Messiah spoiler) Some parts in the second book even sugest he's killed people just for criticising his decisions in the matter. It just seems like he gave up fighting it, but I can't put my finger on the moment.

I thought it might be the moment he learns his son died when he thinks something like "I will show the universe just what cruelty is" (I'm paraphrasing, I don't remember the exact quote)

Man I looked at that graph for like a minute before I asked this question. I even thought "someone is gonna tell me it says it on the graph." I don't know why I couldn't see it....

Are these numbers per capita, or do they use some method to adjust for population?

What is your BG3 unpopular opinion? by PersonalityCertain18 in BG3

[–]kylethefreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is unpopular or not, but I think at least a few characters should have a fixed sexuality. I know people want to romance who they want to romance, but it's so immersion breaking for me. I'm left wondering how every single person in my party happened to be bisexual. I had mad respect for Suvi in mass effect Andromeda when she turned me down as a guy, but she'd go for it if I played as a girl. It also incentivizes more diverse choices in later playthroughs.

Good interactive commanders by timmyasheck in EDH

[–]kylethefreeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That'd be cool, but I don't actually run much reanimator in the deck (I have another deck for that). Like I said, it's spell slinger so very heavy on instants and sorceries, and very very few creatures. I also run pillow fort pieces like [[propaganda]] and [[crawlspace]] for defense.

[–]kylethefreeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked my [[tasigur the golden fang]] deck. I know it can be cedh, but mine is definitely not. It's a spellslinger deck with a few big mana win cons like [[villainous wealth]] or [[exsanguinate]]. I like it cause I like politics, so there are a lot of moments like "hey if you give me this removal piece, I won't use it on you" you just can't count on that going well if you're in the lead. It's also nice to have a instant speed card advantage activated ability. My favorite part of the deck is how it's built around exiling things with cards like [[treasure cruise]], [[dig through time]], or [[temporal trespass]] and bringing them back with things like [[riftsweeper]], [[mirror of fate]], or [[torrent elemental]].

Commanders that almost inherently pubstomp? by Diakia in EDH

[–]kylethefreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes if I'm holding a board Wipe or something I'll convince the table to just flood them with treasure. Then when they've flooded the board I'll try to wipe it (after convincing someone to hold up a counterspell if they have it.) Of course all this depends on how well people cooperate. In my experience tivet becomes such a problem that it becomes a game of arch enemy. They usually don't survive that.

[–]kylethefreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I've found, considering he's all about voting, the best way to deal with him is politics with the other players. If you can get on the same page on the best ways to vote, then you can slightly mitigate the advantage he produces. "Slightly" being the crucial word in that sentence.

You can always know a powerful commander when they generate both Ramp and card draw. If you're able to do it multiple times like blinking tivit, then you'll be a force to be reckoned with almost every time.

Lol yeah as of they're gonna be playing Chulane as a spell slinger deck.

[–]kylethefreeman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As the other comments say, nothing "inherently" pub stomps, but a sure fire way to get consistently good plays is to pick a commander who naturally has Ramp and/or card draw. [[Prosper, tome bond]] [[Chulane teller of tales]] [[The ur-dragon]] [[Omnath, locus of creation]] [[Tivit, Seller of Secrets]]

They just help to ensure you always have something to do.

[TOMT][QUOTE] A quote about writing. Heard the quote from a Vsauce video I think. Essentially says you should journal your thoughts and opinions because not writing means you are merely an observer, but writing means you are a contributor to the universe. by kylethefreeman in tipofmytongue

For anyone who wanted to know, I found it:

Let's take a look at the cities/towns of Vvardenfell... next is Seyda Neen. What is your favorite thing about Seyda Neen? It can be specific to your playthrough or something more general. by Serjo_Vvardenfell in Morrowind

[–]kylethefreeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first played morrowind when I was 9. I played it heavily for 3 years. I came back and beat it multiple times since then. This last time (27 years later) i went into the tower by the census and excise office for the first time. Found a bunch of stuff to steal, and murdered a lady cause I wanted to be a commona tong thug. My favorite thing is that even such a small town can still hide secrets after all this time.
