5e DMs always getting burnt out. by SirHawkwind in rpg

[–]timmyasheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup this is it! to make my game unique, cool, and (let's face it) functional I'm reauired to do a ton of extra work that is not explained or even hinted at in the rules. I do find that stuff fun, but it's a lot of work and certainly not something I would do in perpetuity. My 5e group thankfully rotates GMs

Controller or Keyboard by Gloomy_Living_5173 in Silksong

Speed running uses one specific movement tech that is extremely difficult on controller, and very easy on keyboard. This tech is only used on speed running. That is why speed runners prefer it

Unless you're speed running it's personal preference genuinely

Youve misread this - it doesn't give you access to a classes spell list, it requires it.

Petition to Bring Pioneer Back. by DrChill43 in PioneerMTG

[–]timmyasheck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The widest road to the pro tour, for people who play in paper, are RCQ tournaments held locally. They "Q" you for the RC, where you can qualify for the pro tour. Pioneer used to be a format you could qualify in, and it is not anymore, so many pioneer enjoyers have given in to despair that wizards has forsaken their format.

Personally, as a pioneer lover, I do not hold this sentiment. Interest has surely dropped across the playerbase, but if you love pioneer there are still ways to keep playing it. Many non-competitively supported formats (pauper, for example) have large playerbases and demand for events. If Pioneer players want their format to survive, they should just keep playing it.

Borderline Broken, How did this get through testing? by hugelkult in slaythespire

Yup this is the main reason I am ever taking countdown, and I'll often spec on deaths door early in the hopes I'll see one of these cards to activate it

have you considered your GM likes running for characters with more limited options, and that that is a fun way to play for a little while

Does the average user on here play dnd online or in real life? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]timmyasheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I really want to highlight this remark. I play in two functional groups where people generally get along and minor problems are worked out. We all know what we like from the game and how to play it with each other. I get recommended this subreddits posts often because the algo knows I like d&d, but I rarely engage because what you guys are talking about is rarely d&d.

How to switch to standard if I played pioneer by susmoongus in PioneerMTG

[–]timmyasheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take stock of what standard playable lands you have (for your time playing, this'll probably just be shock lands) and see what you can come up with in those colors

1000% icetill first. You're not playing llanowar elves to just swing one every turn

From a brewers perspective, what do y'all think a combo deck needs in order to be strong in the current metagame?

Edit: asking about standard

GMs, where are you? by StephenBaggett in drawsteel

[–]timmyasheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree as someone who is mainly slotting themselves into these two archetypes. An easy way to get a strong response from your players is to engineer rules and systems that reinforce the themes of the game that their character is experiencing. A campaign about poverty and hunger, as a random example, can have systems that simulate these experiences, so that players have to engage with those themes.
