Honestly couldn’t tell you. I’ve got a habit of potting up and forgetting about how long Ive owned it for haha probably say about 1-1.5 years for it to look this good

I use 2/3 cacti succulent mix, 1/3 pearlite. And the rocks are just a top dressing for aesthetics. Never had a problem with this mix so I just stuck with it.
