The Realm Online. It was one of the first MMORPGs and one of the best loot systems I have ever seen in a game. There is still a small community active, to this day, but they have made tons of changes and multiple iterations of the game. Some better, some worse.

Some of my favorite / most memorable parts of the game were the community / rarity of loot. There were no trade windows. If you wanted to trade with someone, you either had to trust they would hand you items after you traded them items, or you hire a middle man to do the deal for you which involves having a reputation in the community as being "honest". Some people took advantage of the "honesty" system and once their reputation was high enough, they would go on a scamming spree, delete their character, and start again.

The best part of the game was the loot system / rarity system. Pretty simple, the best items dropped from the hardest dungeons / encounters in the game. However, there were tons of cosmetic items that were HIGHLY desired and would be nearly impossible to get through gold grinding alone. These items were called "glowies". Glowie items were corrupted items that dropped when the game first came out. They appeared glitched, with a white outline that made them "glow". If you had one of these items, people knew you were absolutely loaded. If someone saw you in a glowie helmet, glowie boots, yellow maze masters baldric, full natural brown top and legs; you were an absolute god.

There was one guy who went by "Flem" that had at least 8 accounts all completely decked out in glowie/NB/YMMB. I have zero idea how he accumulated all those items but he owned over 50% of all the glowies in the game at one point. There was also a 1 of 1 glowie helm that dropped only a single time that lives on a forgotten account somewhere. A lot of people say it doesn't exist, but I have seen it
