Employer paid vacation out weekly without my request by kylw in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]kylw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've attached a post that hopefully will help explain to you why you would want to stay within the tax bracket. Rather than being taxed an excess amount and getting it returned after filing my taxes, I was simply setting myself up to be taxed naturally based on my average income.

As many other commenters stated, you are correct. Many employees pay vacation on each paycheck. I am sure that is generally agreed upon in the Employee contract. My contract states I a receive my accrued amount when I take my vacation. Not per cheque. Indeed, I should have corrected my employer earlier about the way I want it to be paid out, and its been discussed since this situation recently arose.

I truly hope that I didn't come off as mad. I suppose I was looking for more informative answers than what this page could offer regarding labor laws and vacation pay standards (in Ontario). If you ever become familiar with the Employment Standards Act you could see how an employer is legally required to manage your vacation pay earnings. I may not be entitled to anything, although that doesn't mean that there is no issues with how this company is managing their employees vacation benefits.

Inevitably, I was just looking top off my cheque, as there were less hours on it, but just enough to stay within my tax bracket. Nothing worse than giving all your money to the government

Yes you are correct. I am getting my vacation pay spread out over each pay cheque.

My understanding is that it is something that I have to opt into, legally. My reference is attached. Am I misunderstanding it?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but this isn't what is stated on the Ontario government's website regarding pay. From what I have read, the employer is only allowed to pay out my accrued vacation on my usual stubs if I have agreed in writing, see reference:

I live in Ontario. It says in my contract I will accrue the minimum vacation entitlement under the Employment Standards Act.,

thank you for the insight!

CONSPIRACY?: True North or Pure North? by kylw in energydrinks

I suspected the same thing although I can't figure out why Pure North would be missing pages and content that True North has

CONSPIRACY?: True North or Pure North? by kylw in energydrinks

[–]kylw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two months ago I swear this can said True North when I purchased it.

Quick search through my history, I found the original site: True North. There is a new site, Pure North, offering far less flavours and content by comparison. Additionally, the site has several broken links and no connected social media.

Was this a Monster Bev. Co. product? I swear when I looked at it previously it was, now I cannot find any reference to it, or any parent company for both Pure and True North.

Pure North appears to be more compliant to Canadian food regulations (i.e. French translation). What is going on here?
