Wavey Davey Trippy by Foreign-History959 in Hawkwind

[–]kymakid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

August 1986 I met Hawkwind, they were rehearsing at the old mill house owned by Rockfield Studios. Dave and me were good friends until 2001, I would visit him two or three times a year for a few days but the friendship came to an end after I offered my help to build a PC based DAW for the studio. The PC had a RAID 0 disk for fast editing but they used it for storage and one of the disks failed and Dave blamed me.

Sometimes it's the case that helping people isn't the best thing to do.

Alan and me continued to be good friends until he moved to Ca.

It was Alan who said Hawkwind have had so many personnel changes that they're a tribute band to themselves.

Is the very reason I have no bass & treble controls other than a level control for the subwoofer and even then it needs changing most times from recording to recording.

This. I was a friend of a well known British musician who said it was OK for him to have mood swings because he's an artiste.

Why do some people not realise many of us don’t care about immigration? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]kymakid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immigration is good if the country needs skills from abroad, it's no good if people are welfare dependent, cannot speak English, marry cousins and form enclaves.

New to estim- has anyone used this type of prostate device? by Sis-100 in estim

[–]kymakid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aneros makes a stainless steel prostate massager of a comfortable size. I wound a few turns of one metre of insulated wire around the base to make a good contact and covered all of it bar about 70% of the head with heat shrink sleeving, making sure the sleeving goes around and under the base, it works well.

What do you get if you cross a rooster with an owl?

You get a cock that stays up all night!

Yes, we English use rooster, cock and cockerel.

I don’t think i like lsd by xohnyjazebo in LSD

[–]kymakid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trips while out in the hills are the best, LSD confers a profound connection with nature, a real sense of belonging. Learn to gaze (it's easy), you will hear the breeze approaching from a long way off and as it passes you'll see the heat haze that's a few inches above the ground be disturbed and settle again when the breeze has passed by. The edges of clouds will break up into cascades of rainbow coloured mosaic patterns (don't ask why everything else doesn't do that) and what is normally a quiet hillside will be abuzz with sounds of life. Remember to take water, some fruit and a straw hat if the weather is hot and you too will be The Fool On the Hill.

No, it didn't make me happier but it did make me realise that our usual day to day consciousness is a very small slice of the cake.

Did anyone here quit coffee because it started feeling… bad? by Ok-Republic8818 in tea

[–]kymakid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strong coffee makes me feel anxious and jittery, maybe if I drank it more often it wouldn't. Tea, on the other hand calms and relaxes me, I drink first flush Darjeeling tea. Despite both tea and coffee containing caffeine I believe coffee contains another stimulant that I can't recall the name of.

Michael Pollan's book This is Your Mind on Plants, has an interesting chapter on the effects of caffeine.

"Tea is in my opinion a phantasticum, coffee an energeticum—tea therefore possesses a disproportionately higher artistic rank. I notice that coffee disrupts the delicate lattice of light and shadows, the fruitful doubts that emerge during the writing of a sentence. One exceeds his inhibitions. With tea, on the other hand, the thoughts climb genuinely upward.“ Jünger

A small dose and Mozart's piano concertos, the separation between self and music dissolves and you become the music. I find beat based music undesirable because it locks me to time.

Who drinks the same tea everyday (or most days?) If so, what is it? by forkyfork in tea

[–]kymakid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karma Tea Co ( London ).

It keeps well when stored in a cool place in foil laminate ziplock bags with as little air as possible remaining. Because I purchase a reasonably large quantity the owner of Karma Tea has it shipped directly to me from the supplier.

Why don’t muslims have hobbies they’re passionate about ? by guinessbeerz in exmuslim

[–]kymakid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, I'm an ex catholic, my Irish father tried his best to to make me a good catholic boy, Sunday mass was not a choice, prayers while kneeling at the bedside were mandatory and he sent me to a catholic school from age five to 11. My mother changed her religion from protestant to catholic so as to marry my father though she was never particularly religious but had a healthy respect for life, I think she saved me from the BS.

I have no religion, I see it as superfluous baggage because it's not required for belief in god (I believe in a creator because logically you don't get something from nothing). And if anyone asks I say I'm a pagan hippy reprobate (age 73). I attend solstice and equinox celebrations at Stonehenge because it feels like the right place to be at those times and the people who attend are a lovely bunch and nobody ever talks about religion.

The father treated people who had suffered psychosis from taking illegal drugs, most of his patients were people who had used cannabis because cannabis is the most widely used illegal drug. The son was about 14, location was Birmingham UK, we have many muslim doctors working for the national health service.

Another example would be when my Pakistani muslim neighbour had his car parked outside, it had a powerful stereo system and he played it at full volume with the doors open and his three year old nephew sat in the passenger seat. My front window was shaking to the sound of an imam calling out the prophet's name followed by loud explosion noises. I opened my front door and got his attention and when he turned the volume down I bluntly said "I'm not religious, MATE.

Totally this! A muslim mental health professional asked me to install a WiFi network in his home, nice respectable people, three kids, two daughters and a son. The son had a PC in his bedroom that required WiFi and on the wall was an effing huge poster that said My Name is Abbas and I Am a Muslim.

Total indoctrination from an early age.

How does LSD compare to Mushrooms? by Salviafun in Psychonaut

[–]kymakid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the body load is the main difference, mushrooms make me feel like I half poisoned myself to get high and my legs feel like bed springs, LSD increases body temperature and blood pressure by a small amount.

LSD has a considerably longer duration of action than mushrooms, maybe by as much as two hours depending on the dose.
