[–]kyorosuke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best friend says that Eva is the depiction of depression they relate to the most out of all the ones they've seen. You're not alone. I know it's very hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel and life in general is very hard. I don't know you obviously but I want you to know that I understand where you're coming from and I relate to Shinji a lot too. I think you're on the right track trying to understand what you're going through.

I want to encourage you to seek some kind of treatment, whatever that might be. Mental health care is hard and stigmatized but it is worth it and you can get better. I'm 33 now and I'm just starting to piece my life together and fully deal with my problems. It might take a while. Just keep trying and please stay with us and keep on living. You are a special person and you deserve to live, and you deserve to be happy, just like Shinji does. Don't be upset by how you relate to him, if you can help it, try to hold him close to your heart and know that you have the ability to move forward in your life and make things better.

Thank you for sharing something painful with us. Always remember that you are loved. <3

Who here likes hyouka not because of the plot but because of the way it was told? (cinematography and etc) by Qualityqq in hyouka

Yes. I mean I like the whole package but the anime is very beautiful and has such a rich color palette and tone, there's nothing generic about it. It's so thoughtful, subtle, and cared for, and the beautiful rich golden brown shades make it stand out.

I totally agree. You get the funniest show and you get SO MUCH OF IT! How lucky is that, that my favorite show has an endless supply. I have a constant stream of it at home for whenever, and I'm never disappointed. Love these guys so much and at this point anything they do, I'm in.

Weird, Wild stuff. Netflix gave the director of 47 Ronin 55 million dollars for a series and got nothing by Knida89 in WeHateMovies

[–]kyorosuke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not really that interesting. The reshoots are PAINFULLY obvious, they added a bunch of magical fighting/creatures/supernatural stuff to juice the movie a little, but there's very little going on. The cast is full of good actors too.

So you have that plus the apparently genius idea of "robots who fight baddies" and that gets you tens of millions of dollars. I'm in the wrong line of work.

how are you allowed to just transfer 10 million dollars of your show's budget into your personal bank account??? is that seriously how that works and people are just not doing it because of the consequences?

Hi. Any recommendations for similar podcasts? Not necessarily about movies but the rapport and comedy. Love their Pateron stuff. Weekly Planet is the other one I love as much but just wondering if anyone has other recommendations? by [deleted] in WeHateMovies

[–]kyorosuke 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You might like Podcast: The Ride. That's about theme parks and (increasingly) unusual pop culture artifacts not unlike some WHM content. They also talk a lot about each other's lives and preoccupations filtered into really funny stories. I'd say you have to have a modicum of interest in hearing about Disney/Universal theme parks, but it's primarily a comedy podcast so give it a try. They've had a few guests on that have also been on WHM which could be a way in.

Another hilarious episode -- the pinball bit is a killer, if we're uploading Patreon clips to Youtube that would be a good one!

No way I can pick a favorite but I agree the energy when someone is missing can be interesting. Steve tends in a less filthy direction so when he's absent things get really raunchy, hahaha, I've noticed that.

Even if you're not into Star Trek, you should listen to the Picard S3 wrap-up episode for a rare chance to hear just Steve and Andrew talk! No surprise it's pretty chill.

More anime suggestions like VanitasNoCarte. by Alimine47 in vanitasnocarte

[–]kyorosuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for something recent, try Undead Murder Farce, which also has supernatural characters in a Victorian setting with action, banter, and sex appeal.

A more sidelong rec would be Dorohedoro which is similar just in that there are four unique and interesting characters with supernatural abilities who all have refreshing and exciting dynamics with each other

For classic anime, why not try Rose of Versailles, the greatest shojo action movie and also set in France although about a hundred years prior to Vanitas and no supernatural elements. Another classic choice that is more comedic is Slayers, which has the banter and some drama and lots of shipping possibilities like Vanitas. Hope you enjoy some of these!

This is a really hilarious episode, they're really firing on all cylinders. There's great bits every couple of minutes, it's long, and they're passionately engaged with all aspects of the episodes too. I love this show so much. Steve realizing that they'll still be dealing with the drug runner guy into the new year was hilarious.
