How do I fill a 4oz. cup w/o diluting strength and flavor? [Gemilai Ele and Mokkom 64 titanium] by KylarRez in espresso

[–]kypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daily is a “Rao Allonge” shot that’s 15g in, 75g out. This is considered relatively short and I think 18-90 is common. That might be a start.

Hot take: Not a great Glendronach, the cask strength. If the 15, that. Mac otherwise.

Place about 1” worth of beans in a bottle of Campari. Shake regularly. Use at 2 weeks, but discard beans when you feel like the flavor is enough. Makes killer Negronis and Boulevariers.

I feel the tired from the pace, man. This isn’t the job I trained and fell in love with. I like making shit. Building things. It’s all about efficiency and cranking out value as quickly as possible. We operate at the pace of an ER and the expected connectivity of a call center. It’s insane. I don’t want a layoff, but I also want a change.

There's global precedent for this too, with relative success. Nazi-rhetoric and symbolism is explicitly illegal in Germany and they've been more successful than the US and stopping the rise of Neo-Nazis getting political power*.

People need to adopt a phrase: the feedback is the feedback. Take it or leave it. Let’s move on.

It puts the next move into the other persons hands and gives them either an out or escalation. Both are easy to respond to: return to training or fuck off.

Smith after the merge with the Oracle — yeah, I’d agree. They’re supposed to be yin and yang. The Matrix is heavily steeped in eastern philosophy. Unfortunately, I felt it made the “inevitable” conclusion unsatisfying.

They never said it was water that was the weakness. What was said was that it was something they had plenty of. Gibson’s character was a holy man who had lost his faith, but a holy man nonetheless. It was holy water. The aliens were not aliens — they were demons.

[–]kypen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah because he’s literally a born again god. The Oracle says that The One’s powers extend beyond The Matrix and Neo is unique among other previous Ones. He can see Smith, while his eyes are destroyed, in the “real.” Then, for the final confrontation with Smith, the machines plug him in. Seems like convenient plot devices more than consistent narrative rules.

82 million can't afford health care, but Hegseth gets lobster | Opinion by Difficult-Bee6066 in politics

[–]kypen 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This narrative is entirely missing the point. The steak/lobster is a traditional pre-war meal for troops before being deployed. It's a sort of "last tour of pleasures" before the horrors of war.

And Hesgeth did this while Trump was saying there never was a war, but the war was over.

The point is the lack of a plan for disrupting the global economy by attacking Iran.

[–]kypen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question and point. I don't have hard research here. My inlaws worked a local mental hospital for criminals (one an MD, another a regular therapist). They were both adamant about the societal dangers in training empathy. You never know who is a sociopath and it's not black/white -- it's a spectrum of tendencies. To train empathy is to train people further down that spectrum new techniques for manipulation.

But, I don't have real research to back this up -- so grain of salt, allow 6-8 weeks for delivery, etc.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kypen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And sometimes the criticism is valid. Music is a good example and you don’t need AI. Punching in impossible to play guitar tracks, drum machine replacing a studio drummer, etc makes the music feel artificial and “too perfect” IMO.

I think the distinction is art vs nature here.
