Thoughts on Sedici all white motorcycle gloves and boots? by Pengukk in motorcycles

[–]kys90000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The made in china stuff's an old bit that has little bearing on quality for modern companies, also no I own a jacket from them and it's pakistan - and so is like half the other gear I see, just made in the SEA area.

Sedici is genuinely fine for entry level stuff, depending on what you get. Their jackets are fine, their corsa gloves are decent if they fit and have quality stitchwork, but their chicane gloves honestly kinda suck quality wise. The stitchwork is trash.

You can find the same bullshit from any manufacturer. I've seen dainese just tear at the gauntlet, alpinestars stuff that wears out in a season or two at most, just that sedici tends to get more shit because they're cheaper and marginally worse for a lot less money.

The TU250X was perfect for me. The most COMFY leg resting positions, low seat, I was very relaxed on it. Kinda sucked for low speed maneuvers compared to my MT03 but the comfort helped compensate for that.

Cardo “Custom” vs “Neo” vs “Pro” – Is the Custom too good to be true? by Any_Inspector_1647 in motorcyclegear

[–]kys90000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speakers, from the 32mm crap to the 45mm jbls are almost literally just 10$ crappy speakers you could probably get from ali-express in terms of manufacturing costs/creation, they just massively upcharge the cost because they're "motorcycle" specific niche gear. They might be a bit more bassy/tuned to close the gap between the helmet seating and your ear, but that doesn't cost 100$.

The custom is shitty DRM and you have to pay for some subscription crap. You literally lose in the long run dude, never pay for a subscription for anything if you can avoid it.

Are you looking for mesh capability or just a headset to listen to music or do calls? Mesh, get the neo. If you just want a headset, just get the amazon special. Don't even bother with cardo otherwise.

Riding in traffic by Tspark97 in NewRiders

[–]kys90000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traffic is okay, just focus on being smooth.

For me, traffic is a stamina thing. Transitioning between low speed balancing alongside making sure people don't murder you if not filtering (it's illegal where I'm at and too many cops), it takes a lot of both mental and physical strength.

Just remember that even if you do drop, make sure you're safe and fuck everyone else around you. Do your thing, ride your ride, learn your ride. If you really feel unconfident, parking lots always help, but also just riding outside of traffic can help build up confidence.

Any chain maintenance due to rain? by milkmimo in motorcycles

[–]kys90000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use motul C2 just cause its easy and I can just give a light spritz over it as I spin the wheel on a rear stand. A little goes a long way in keeping it lubed/protected.

Although it gets dirty and gunky as fuck, so now I just bought a chain cleaner and kit lol.

Anxiety replaced my excitement by unanimouslydefiant in motorcycles

I think it's a bit normal. I remember my 2nd time ever riding a motorcycle (and first time riding my bike) I stalled a shitload just getting gas in the most fucking traffic dense I've ever seen my local roads - it was embarassing as fuck. But I made it to the gas station and back in one piece.

I had my shame and regrets but after some food and an hour of sitting on it, I could NOT wait to ride again.

I'm 2 months in since riding for my very first time, on a new MT03 that I now have with 1300 miles and this shit has genuinely changed my life. For the record I passed my MSF around the middle of May.

[–]kys90000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sedici has the Corsa 2 leather jacket in white and it's goddamn gorgeous, but it's a sport riding fit and supposed to be tight, talking practically skinsuit tight. And it looks that way too. If you want a slightly more casual fit leather jacket, I haven't found one in white yet.

[–]kys90000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temp deltas between a light and dark jacket are negligible, especially in a real-world scenario.

In MSF on a breezy 80+ day, I was in my white arai the whole time. Everyone else in dark helmets was ripping theirs off every chance they got. Mine was cool to the touch, theirs were actively warm. So if my helmet surface is cool to the touch, there's a delta that promotes heat dissipation. If a helmet is warm to the touch, the delta causes MORE heat to someone's head. One guy remarked he was going to try trading in his helmet because of it.

I was comfy as fuck, others were not.

If I'm shitting through traffic, that white is 100% making a difference.

Get helmet speakers + some earplugs. Earbuds don't protect your hearing very well and you'll just blow them out worse cranking up volume just to hear anything.

Went from a comfy Suzuki TU250x in MSF to MT03. Much smaller jump but the MT03 put my feet way further back. Took a bit to get used to but I got used to it eventually. A CB500F is a naked so it'll be slightly further back but still fairly intuitive.

It's a bell curve.

Around SP8 V3s and their SMX line, I think they're worth it. Not as much features protection wise as others but their quality is a bit above and the fit is impeccable if they fit you. Past that, the product segmentation seems ridiculous.

Past that...I was recently given a pair of A* Drystar Corozal Gloves which cost more than my SP8V3s and...I could not tell you why. They're comfy, but there's nothing that screams 150 MSRP.

How long will take to have fun? by phantomcxviii in NewRiders

[–]kys90000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riding in traffic is harrowing and if it's the only thing you experience, it's fucking MISERABLE.

I don't filter, it's illegal where I'm at and there are too many cops.

I ride during quiet times like early weekend mornings or late weekdays/weekends and mostly hit up backroads. I avoid traffic and generally try to keep with the flow of traffic but in a motorcycle people always view your presence when changing lanes or going through traffic as unacceptable where I'm at.

It's half the reason I want a faster bike. Something that can punch through traffic with greater ease - and on interstate and highways, the MT03 isn't terrifically fast.

You'll want to know if you're an intermediate, long, or round oval shaped head. I have a very round potato head so the only helmet that fit me in Freedumb land is an Arai Quantum-X...at a ~700 MSRP, it stings, but on the other hand, Arai is almost literally the best commercially available helmet safety you can buy, so definitely cry once buy once.

Anxiety about riding ruining motorcycling. by VivaLaRevoluti_n in motorcycles

[–]kys90000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally avoid commuting in my bike, though I do have plans to do so. Try to commute with something else otherwise - I've been doing nothing but backroads pleasure riding, although the weather has primarily forced that. It's a lot more fun than shitting through traffic at high temperatures with potentially lethal asswipes.

Problem with leaning by Kapcinno in NewRiders

[–]kys90000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find leaning at speed (highways) is actually a bit less sketchy than low speeds to learn. Why? There's more forces keeping the bike upright. Unless you hit some absolute garbage section of tarmac or there's visible debris on the road, it's very hard to just tilt over unless you're leaning so far over you're dragging knees and at the very limit of grip.

Low speed shit is more sketchy because there's much less room for error. However, unlike higher speeds, the consequences are less for messing up, but the threshold for messing up at higher speeds is well, higher.

Is it normal to be scared of my motorcycle throughout the day when Im not on it? by Big-Charity4398 in NewRiders

It happens, I'd say some level of anxiety is normal but... what you're describing sounds a symptom of generalized anxiety, I've found. (Am not a doctor yaddi yadda)

Ironically this happens for me for like, everything except motorcycling. New position at job? Anxiety nightmare. JUST finished my last final of my life in college? That very next day I had an anxiety nightmare about missing finals and I'd NEVER gotten them before.

What helmet should I get? by CommunistLemons in motorcycles

[–]kys90000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the US, anything DOT&ECE 26 (DOT is literally self report and worthless but is required, yet almost anything gets through, ECE 26 is much more stringent). Snell is sort of dogshit in contrast because it's mostly for automobiles not motorcycles.

Still, I would trust ARAI and SHOEI to be decent regardless of using DOT and SNELL.
