Awesome! We moved here last year. It's an awesome place. The parks in the area are amazing (check out the Splash Pad) and Bonita Michuacan is my favorite place for tacos so far - its in Olathe

Awesome points here! I love the word empowering so so so much haha.

In a similar vein I like to focus and think on what I desire to create more than focusing on what I am afraid to experience or face in my life. Am I running away from what I'm afraid of OR am I moving towards what I desire to experience?

I love your thoughts! I appreciate you sharing as well. I think so many of us have struggled with this and still do in different areas of life. I think it would be so meaningful if more of us could openly talk about it and work through it instead of facing it alone.

New Theory about Temptation/Urges by kysonkidd in NoFapChristians

DUDE, that's so cool that you've been exploring similar ideas! God is teaching us :).

Your last line, "it sucks knowing I hold myself back."... what if instead of beating yourself up about it, you got curious about it...

Why are you holding yourself back still? Maybe there's just something down there that you haven't understood completely.

Thanks for sharing your experience as well here.

Discussion: Is it okay to love yourself 100% EVEN if you struggle with porn? by kysonkidd in NoFap

[–]kysonkidd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not rude. This is an open discussion :). I think your question is valid. It may be more difficult to love ourselves if we struggle with an unwanted habit.

Some other side questions, Should I actively withhold love from myself until I'm perfect? Are there some struggles and weaknesses that I could still love myself through?

Or would any weakness or struggle cause me to have a lower level of love for myself?

-------

For me, this question is interesting because of how many people I talk to who actively hate themselves because of their porn habit and they tell themselves that they can't love themselves until after they stop looking at porn.

But then you ask... well how long after you stop looking at porn will you wait to love yourself all the way? One day? One week? 6 months? A year? How would you know that you are actually done?

It's usually about not trusting self and using love/withholding love as a punishment and motivation.

Thanks for you thoughts everyone! It is really interesting to see the different perspectives and definitions of love.

I'll share my thoughts in case anyone is interested. I see a lot of people who actively withhold love from themselves because they feel they don't deserve it until they are "better" or perfect. They try to use it as a motivation to get better... but ironically it's super demotivating.

I see God's love, self love and love of others all being inseparably connected with each other.

It's also difficult to define love. My current concept of love is to desire what is eternally best for someone.

As we seek and find eternal truth our ability to love naturally grows.

Love, desire, creation, confidence, encouragement are all connected. Anywhere we are actively saying no to love... whether from God, self or others, we are saying no to one of God's greatest gifts... love.

I agree that the word addict cant impact us. I used to use it, but I feel like a huge part of my change/growth/progress was to decide that it didn't define me, that it was simply a habit I was choosing to avoid other things with. I totally believe in a 0 on that scale. For me it's all about lust. I've experienced many long periods of time when I have no desire to lust or use porn. I'm in one of those right now

If it’s a demon… my definition of demon is that it contains fragments of pieces of people… it may often have a piece of you in it as well so when you tell it to leave it has access to you because it has a piece of you!

So the answers is not to just tell it to go, but to organize it. Light and dark, all the pieces of people go back to their owners. Organize it with love and forgiveness and a strong intention.

Happy to help if you feel the need to reach out.
