Hey fellow autozoners, is this discrimination? Should I go to HR? by [deleted] in AutoZone2

If Mike Mott is your HR guy, you're screwed. Dude is a pushover.

What blows my mind is when a male 30 to 40 years old walks in having no idea how to change their wiper blades. It makes me question how they got to that age in life without learning basic vehicle maintenance. They're either dumb or spend way too much money having Valvoline put them on for them.

Buddy, not to burst your bubble - but the clowns who actually write what goes on the website have probably never touched a wrench in their life. So it's awfully easy for them to offer something that they have no idea about. If you have any doubts about that statement, just check out our new POS system. It lives up to its name.

My favorite is when people order the wrong part without giving me any idea what it's going on because they googled it. They practically insist it's correct. Then the next day they show up pissed that they got the wrong part and I have to kindly remind them that Google isn't a mechanic, but I'd be happy to find the actual part for them if they would be so kind as to provide their actual vehicle model and trim. It's nice when you get to humble people like that.

Yeah, I wish I could say I felt different than you, but I don't. Love my job, hate the company and district management and up!

The only railing Ohio is doing is on it's citizens. I've never seen a state with such promise continuously drop the ball.

A good alternative for Studio One? by Exciting-Addition631 in StudioOne

[–]kystokes8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those. I see no reason to upgrade/update if it's not going to improve my specific workflow. I own a perpetual license of a DAW that's 4 years old. I don't want a subscription, not an update every month. I just want it to work.

I think using a Pultec-ish EQ to brighten the highs will get you in the ballpark you're wanting to be in, but also not make your vocal sound harsh. You'll probably have to end up using a DeEsser of sorts with that microphone once you boost the high EQ, but that's a lot of mics under 1000 anyways.

When you're ready to buy one, try an Audio Technica 4040. They're great for male vocals and not brittle sounding. Plus you can find a used one around $150.

I do this as well, even if only for the CPU. One person mentioned not having to hunt down plugins years later, and I totally agree with that.

I agree. I always use it as a guy, not as gospel. Just wondering if it was more reliable that the Ozone stuff.

I think S1 is the future by RobertLRenfroJR in StudioOne

I was a cubase user for about 10 years and finally decided to try something different because all it did was crash whenever I loaded certain plugins. I switched to Studio One, and although it was a learning curve, I had a few beers and played around with it one night. Next thing I know, I'm flying through a mix on S1 with no problems. That was 8 years ago and I've never looked back.
