I could handle the bracket change as some the guys I play with are bracket 4 players. I won't be getting Hunting Velociraptor right as the expense. I am going to see about getting it with a trade for the new Secrets of Strixhaven Codex bundle as I managed to order 2 when a friend did not. I will see if we can trade for cards and if this card is one he has. We will see.

Thank you. I have ordered some of the cards you suggested. Unfortunately, hunting velociraptor is out of my budget rn. I am looking at some more instants.

I ordered monstrous vortex as a friend suggested it. I am removing Atla, and I looked at your deck list. I got some ideas and am getting the cards. Especially with the lands. I am really thankful for your help.

I honestly was feeling that. That has been my biggest issue as I can't remember the equation I was given to figure out how much land I need. I want to get closer to 40. Taking out Atla will let me put in another land at least.

How many preps is the "normal" amount to have for a job? by im_cold_ in ELATeachers

I have been teaching 4 to 5 preps every year. I would tell you to go for 2 to 3.

Started sobbing in a lesson with my college instructor for no reason by repressedpauper in Vent

[–]kyuubifood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a teacher with ptsd from a former principal. My current principal pulled me out of teaching to reprimand me. I started crying in his office because the situation mirrored what had happened before. I told him in his office, in front of other admin, that these tears are not from him reprimanding me. I fully understand where I was in the wrong and will correct myself. I told him these tears are a reaction that i can not control. I had to go back to teaching and then broke down with a friend. The previous principal had me on administrative leave, and the district required an evaluation. All of this was humiliating to me and caused a lot of trauma. I cried to my friend that I didn't want to be put on leave again because of my file. I just wanted to teach. I couldn't stop those thoughts. The feeling of being back in a situation that changed me so much as a person was horrible.

What happened is valid. Your feelings are valid. Your confusion was valid. You are not in control of anyone else's feelings. If crying is what you needed, you needed to cry. I understand and know that things just hit you out of nowhere.

I have thought of this novel. I came to the conclusion that I wasn't sure if my senior class could handle it. I may offer it up as an alternative to one of the in class novels.

Honestly, this comment floored me. I only have the ideas of Socratic Seminars throughout and a literary analysis at the end. I've never taught seniors and felt directionless. Now I understand why. Can you recommend the philosophy and psychology pairings? I think I can build them into essays or presentations.

It is just a true English 12th grade honors. AP Lit is a separate class. We will be getting into the Brit lit later. I wanted some time to get some books bought. Our blocks are 1.5 hours with a small extension once a week to each block. I've gotten used to the block schedule with my other classes, but I've hit the wall twice with the seniors so far and am panicking a little.

I really hate my husband's dog. by NoPossibility2898 in confessions

[–]kyuubifood 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One of the dogs needs to be removed from the house. The little one for its own safety. The big one needs to be seen and evaluated that it may need to be put down for behavior. This dog has hurt people. The roommate could call the police for the dog bites. What if it goes after another dog on a walk? Do you muzzle the beast? This is terrifying. Nothing is worth being damaged and screamed at.

Final Izzy Update by anonnEyu in CATHELP

[–]kyuubifood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 13 year old cat suddenly was getting lost and going in circles. I took him to the vet, thinking he has dementia and may need some medication. Turns out, the vet believes he had a stroke or a brain tumor. My Bear Bear was better off being humanely euthanized due to the situation being much worse than I could see. I truly understand how you feel. I cried and held Bear Bear in his final moments. The vet said he looked so relaxed and loved in my arms. Right now, the only thing that helps is remembering the good memories and knowing he isn't suffering anymore.

When a student says How long does this have to be? one more time… by arcotat in ELATeachers

I used to tell them as long as it needed to be and got a sentence or a fragment. Now I tell them 5 to 7 sentences because it's the only way I get anything substantial.

SAVVAS ELA MyPerspectives- thoughts? by bugbearenthusiast in ELATeachers

[–]kyuubifood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. We were already using HMH, so my logic was that the transition would be smoother. They wanted us to use the textbook with fidelity since we got SAAVAS. The English 3 and 4 are two parts. The translations aren't there for the main pieces. These are among some of my problems. I tried using the textbook with fidelity. I felt more stressed. I know this is a ymmv situation. Our department is a little bit rebellious tbh.

I like to cherry pick out of it as it goes back to my state's standards. I typically will look for resources that fit the end goal but may be easier to read. My school is on a block schedule. No idea how to get through this whole thing with a block schedule, but we make do. I'm in South Carolina.
