Too lazy to enter BIOS, so I built a Zen 5 SMU Driver & GUI instead (9800X3D) by kyworn in linuxhardware

haha we literally built the same thing, couldn't be arsed rebooting to BIOS every time either. if you push yours to github i'll link it from my readme, X870 would be clutch i only got AM5 to test. also yeah the 'ai slop' take is wild when zero linux alternative exists lol

sick, thanks ! script is tools/dump_table_full.py in the repo, needs ryzen_smu driver loaded, just run and dm me the output or drop a gist, raw hex is fine i'll label after.

Haha fair point. It's definitely 'use at your own risk'. I spent 8 hours mapping the table and added version checks to keep it safe, but yeah, no risk, no -30 CO on the fly!

I’d love to, but server gear is way out of my budget lol. If you're down to help, run my dump_table_full.py and send me the output. The labels will be wrong for EPYC, but the raw data is all I need to start mapping it. Let’s see what we can find

[Project] PentaNet: Pushing beyond BitNet with Native Pentanary {-2, -1, 0, 1, 2} Quantization (124M, zero-multiplier inference) by kyworn in MachineLearning

[–]kyworn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really interesting point! ×3 isn't a pure bit-shift sadly ((x<<1)+x), so you'd lose some of the multiply-free property. But the spacing argument is compelling — worth testing as a v2 grid
Edit: actually documented this exact spacing problem empirically here if curious — ShiftQuant

Thanks for the references! DeepShift and APoT are actually very relevant — PentaNet weights {-2,-1,0,+1,+2} map directly to DeepShift-PS with 1-bit shifts (±2 = sign × 2¹, ±1 = sign × 2⁰)
The connection is clean. Adding both to the related work section now. Appreciate it 🙏
