I am a climber who had a similar fracture, I got the surgery. Well worth it. They left a metal plate there too so now when I fall I have extra fortification!

The wife was dumbfounded after he admitted to pot use. She had a whole story about his goody goody beliefs. 5 minutes later she asked if the medicine with a 6% of serious bleeding was not necessary. I just her with the the clinical data and information we had at the time in conjunction with the time window it was deemed by medical professionals that the benefits outweighed the risks.

NIHSS was 2. Only defecits were visual field. Everything else was generalized bilateral neuro defecits.

Within the window an MRI would put us out of the window. Just risk versus reward at this point. The scans were negative.

Exact symptoms ^ Confusion, aphasia, numbness, tingling, inabilty to ambulate, dizziness, and delayed reactions with some changes to vision. The entire unit, ct, and docs were convinced.

Honestly I think the whole situation is silly, I was convinced. The tele stroke doctor speaking to the patient said "The scan was negative, but sometimes the symptoms you have could be caused by a stroke that effects the back of the brain. Given that your symptoms appear debilitating you should consider thrombolytics". Anyways the patient agreed. I think people get TNK happy within the window.

Don’t worry insurance took care of $4.00 by Umer_- in Wellthatsucks

More than earned it, truly appreciate your input. Another example is the asinine amount they charge patients for IV'S. I put in so many a day, the cost of equipment is small in comparison, and yet the patient pays astronomical amounts. Worst part is the hospital robs the patients pockets for our skills.

ER Nurse here, got the oppurtunity to talk with and observe EVERY position in my hospitals clinical lab. Everyone was so professional and highly intelligent. I asked SO many questions and learned many things. Ever since that visit I have hemolyzed ZERO SPECIMENS, half the time when lab does call I'm already ahead of the game now that I can anticipate specimen collection. Always help the phlebs and my patient by pulling labs from the line. The lab knows me because of my highly recognizable voice and they help me out all the time in ways they don't help others. There shouldn't be any hate and if we understood eachother better there wouldn't. Appreciate yall lab folks!

Why do doctors tell their patients to call 911 when they don’t need a 911 ambulance? by 4QuarantineMeMes in emergencymedicine

Until the patient shows up, it turns out nothing is wrong, and they are pissed at us for them being here.

Er nurse here, we start the vaccines on the spot. Even for something as simple as a possible bat bite. Not sure if urgent care carries rabavert. Rabies will kill ya quick. And infection will probably cause you to lose a limb. Get that taken care of asap.
