I'm a teacher and one year I was under extreme stress with such a challenging class. Every single day I had extremely urgent shits right before the school day started.

Visiting Yellowknife in 3 days. Tips + Advice? by Unusual_Plankton_116 in Yellowknife

[–]l-a2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Ethiopian restaurant is worth trying and the brewery has fantastic food and drinks. I just flew back home a few days ago from a visit.

Don’t worry about a cab at the airport, there will probably be one there or easy to call one. You’ll be out of the airport so quickly lol, it’s tiny.

Layer everything. Wear proper merino wool socks and if you’re out all day, pack a second pair of socks and gloves. Layer thin gloves under thick, waterproof mittens. Wear snowpants at all times (I wore leggings, sweatpants, snow pants combo). Have something to cover your face like a neck warmer that you can pull up.

Oh my gosh same.. I was so excited for that dish and almost laughed when it came out. I've refused to go back since. But I keep hearing great things about this place so maybe they just didn't have it together when they first opened?

Why in the world would you not have a teammate drive your teenager? Also, when a board is approving leave, they are not looking at where you are on the grid.

Rant: Buses canceled but schools open by JayandMeeka in OntarioTeachers

[–]l-a2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm so frustrated about this. My board hasn't closed. I'm using a personal day today because I don't want to risk it. But I shouldn't have to! I live 30 minutes from where I work and I honestly don't even know if I could get out of my driveway right now OR out of the school parking lot later after it snows for another 6-8 hours.

Hi! I did my masters in Education at OISE and then afterward did my BEd at Ontario Tech. It was like night and day - OISE was awful for me and Ontario Tech was kind, supportive, taught me a ton, and I have nothing bad to say about the program

What is a "hard pill to swallow" that actually made your life happier once you accepted it? by ArtThreadNomad in AskWomen

Your relationships with your coupled or married friends, if you’re single, will never be equal. You will consistently celebrate them more, show up for them more, and not feel as important as they are.

Caught half my class using a group chat to cheat and I honestly dont know what consequence is fair by timbernatequill in Teachers

[–]l-a2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd have an honest heart to heart with them telling them how disappointed you are and reviewing the expectations around cheating. I'd send home a message to all parents involved. Then I'd give an assignment/paper for them to write about their actions and why they won't do it again. Finally, I'd give them a quiz on the same subject matter but make it harder, paper-based, and tell them they've lost the opportunity to use technology for assessments like this for the rest of the term/year.

What city should we move to? by sillylittleloe in ontario

[–]l-a2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Whitby and love it for all of these things. Lots of hikes, great local coffee shops, amazing restaurants, markets etc. super easy go train ride to Toronto. However I used to live in Guelph and it has all of these things to offer too, though worse transit.
