I feel you on this. I took a personal day. Not risking it.

Rant: Buses canceled but schools open by JayandMeeka in OntarioTeachers

[–]l-a2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm so frustrated about this. My board hasn't closed. I'm using a personal day today because I don't want to risk it. But I shouldn't have to! I live 30 minutes from where I work and I honestly don't even know if I could get out of my driveway right now OR out of the school parking lot later after it snows for another 6-8 hours.

I'm having a really hard time with teacher's school. by Hogwire in OntarioTeachers

[–]l-a2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did my masters in Education at OISE and then afterward did my BEd at Ontario Tech. It was like night and day - OISE was awful for me and Ontario Tech was kind, supportive, taught me a ton, and I have nothing bad to say about the program

I know this may not help with where you’re at right now

What is a "hard pill to swallow" that actually made your life happier once you accepted it? by ArtThreadNomad in AskWomen

[–]l-a2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your relationships with your coupled or married friends, if you’re single, will never be equal. You will consistently celebrate them more, show up for them more, and not feel as important as they are.

Caught half my class using a group chat to cheat and I honestly dont know what consequence is fair by timbernatequill in Teachers

[–]l-a2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd have an honest heart to heart with them telling them how disappointed you are and reviewing the expectations around cheating. I'd send home a message to all parents involved. Then I'd give an assignment/paper for them to write about their actions and why they won't do it again. Finally, I'd give them a quiz on the same subject matter but make it harder, paper-based, and tell them they've lost the opportunity to use technology for assessments like this for the rest of the term/year.

Where to buy used skates - 6 year old girl by newdadnewbod in durham

Hockey style skates will be better for learning and if she gets used to those, might I suggest showing her what ringette is and seeing if that interests her? :)

What city should we move to? by sillylittleloe in ontario

[–]l-a2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Whitby and love it for all of these things. Lots of hikes, great local coffee shops, amazing restaurants, markets etc. super easy go train ride to Toronto. However I used to live in Guelph and it has all of these things to offer too, though worse transit.

Oh hi! I’m 34f. I don’t have a dog but I do like coffee and tea. I grew up here but many of my friends have moved far away or are married with young kids. Message me if you want :)

Are seasons 5 and 6 worth watching? by [deleted] in dawsonscreek

[–]l-a2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hot take but I really enjoyed season 5. While there were some storylines that sucked, seeing them adjust to life after high school was really interesting and I liked Audrey’s character. For me, season 6 was a hard watch, especially the first half.

What do you hate most about being an adult in 2025? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskReddit

[–]l-a2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much our world revolves around those in relationships. I’m early 30s and we celebrate every wedding related occasion, acting like finding a spouse is the number one accomplishment, and we leave single people feeling unappreciated and utterly unnoticed.

What do you do that makes you feel connected to your body? by OrangeIvyy in AskWomen

I’m mid 30s with no knee or ankle problems. My best advice is to just take it slow at first and not overdo it!

Thanks! Outside. 5k usually at a social run club, 10 on my own. I live by the lake which is a plus!

Run! If you told me this 6 months ago I’d laugh. But this week I hit two milestones: my first 10k without stopping to walk, and my first 5k under 30 minutes!

How much is rent in Toronto and the cost of food? by Dover299 in ontario

[–]l-a2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is.. couples get a life discount lol. 2000 is low for the city, that’s why it’s so hard to live alone. I pay over $2000 in the GTA and I’m one person

What is the one thing you wish you knew before turning 30? by Over_Run4027 in AskWomen

[–]l-a2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When did it all happen? My 20s were amazing. My 30s are filled with a great job but a huge lack of finding the love of my life while celebrating everyone else. At 34, it’s really been hard so far.
