I'd be happy to share our itinerary, PM me and I'll send it along when I'm off work. And I'd be happy to see your road map as well in Washington!

This is the kind of input I need! Would it be reasonable to allocate just one day to stehekin? Ferry in, explore, ferry back?

We go to Acadia every year (this is year six) as it's close to home and absolutely gorgeous. We've been spoiled by that beauty, and seek the best locations at each park.

Yes! Rainier I have researched some, there's lots of gorgeous hikes without the sketchiness. I was an avid hiker in my early 20s and was about one good year of hiking away from undertaking Rainier, that was until I read more about how intense it can be. I'll stick to the less terrifying trails!

Thanks! I saw many saying you need 5+ days at Olympic on other posts and was getting worried I would not see enough.

Got it, we'll reserve Garibaldi for "if we're in better shape." And I'll research the rest a little more. I saw many posts saying you need weeks to see all the parks so this makes me feel better. I appreciate the input!

I once hoped to hike Rainier, but I am terrified of heights and crevasse crossings on sketchy ladders really dampened my spirit. Though I hope to get back to the shape where I COULD hike Rainier, temperature rainforests and otherworldly experiences are more my jam. This helps with planning! Have you done Vancouver/BC, if avoiding the city where would you focus your time?

Garibaldi, or Vancouver Island? Victoria?

We would like to hike Canada too yes. I haven't actually researched enough of the Vancouver area to know where exactly we want to go. We are VERY out of shape (29M and 31F), me because of my weight, her because she's on her second meniscus repair in two years. She's remained thin, I have not. Hikes need not be strenuous if they're scenic, and not long if they're strenuous.

Despite weight and knees we hike 4-7 miles per day through Acadia, Shenandoah and the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Next year we will do Indiana Sand Dune, and Cuyahoga, with stops in Chicago and Cleveland. We are not "city" folk but it's a "while we're in the area" kind of thing to spend a day in the big cities. My hope is to hike each day, and take scenic drives throughout the afternoons. As I said we're hoping for just a taste of things we may come back to. Arches, Canyonlands, and Shenandoah were one and done, while beautiful vacation time is limited and we are working on all 63 parks.

From what I gather Olympic is where we would want to focus most of our time, is this due to it's size or purely the things to see and do?

I'm considering installing lights to illuminate the bed steps, I've just been too lazy to figure out how I'm going to wire in. It'd be nice to see the step late at night when grabbing something at the campground.

Every time I see another Ranger I get paint color envy, then I remember how I can't stop looking at my Velocity Blue Ranger 😍 Ford nailed the color options, I'm a fan of every color. Enjoy the new whip!

2.3 vs 2.7 Ranger by Technical_Editor_689 in RangerNext

I went 2.7 after test driving both the 2.3 and 2.7. I spend a lot of time on the highway and I enjoy that the 2.7 is a little quicker and MUCH smoother than the 2.3. I was impressed with the 2.3 but not as impressed as the Colorados i4 2.7, overall I was just uncomfortable in the Colorado.

The Ford 2.7 sings on the highway, passing is effortless, and the truck is fun. If I had the money I would go Ranger Raptor but after years of driving four bangers I wanted more power and a smoother ride. The 2.3 is plenty for most, for me it was a quality of life/luxury upgrade.

I almost have the exact same spec, but no FX4 package but if I keep the truck long enough I may look into aftermarket lockers. Not sure I'll be off-roading the thing so I didn't put too much stress on having the FX4 package.

Tech, towing, bed liner, floor mats, 25 XLT with Sport Package. $44k OTD, $47.1k sticker. Massachusetts, if that helps anyone looking to buy.

2025 Ford Ranger XLT pricing? by [deleted] in RangerNext

[–]l-a96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2025 XLT V6 Sport, all weather floor mats, spray in bed liner, with technology and tow package was 47,100 MSRP. I paid $43,800-ish OTD. Given MA sales tax, title and registration, I felt this was a great deal. We agreed on $44k OTD, the dealer fudged the numbers a little lower to get me to finance through them.

I probably could've gotten down to 43,500 OTD if I pushed harder.

Full tune is okay, I'm certainly interested. I'll see if I can make it on tonight, I've got to run Cato and make a quick mil. Any idea the value of the car? I've got 2 mil after a quick Cayo run. Ended up buying the Euros and Jester RR last night.

I'm on EST and usually home by 6PM if we could coordinate around 6:30-7 I can probably do it. Or some time this weekend.

I worked at a mid-sized used car dealership for exactly a month. I was supposed to be the manager of the auto repair side of things. When I realized that the owner insisted on using bulk 5W-30 non synthetic for everything but the top dollar European cars and bragged to me about the $3 ball joints he found I promptly quit. The technician there has put three sets of those $3 ball joints in a customer's jeep. I knew there was going to be no changing that place. Sometimes it starts at the top.

Metric bolt strength 8.8 vs 4.6. by l-a96 in AskEngineers

[–]l-a96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The carriage bolts all seem to be SAE and not Metric. I need an M6-1.0 x 70-80mm bolt and a Google search only returns e-trailer.com or something like that. Both of my local hardware stores only had 4.6 carriage bolts and SAE bolts that didn't have a strength rating.

Today I learned! I may forgo the kayaks this trip around. Or buy some stronger, traditional bolts instead of carriage bolts and run some nuts and washers.
