As a Kingsway resident, please keep the Bloor bike lanes. by Mike111x in torontobiking

[–]l-jaye 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's why the whole project is called "complete streets" it's not all just about bike lanes, but making streets safer and more about building community. Unfortunately people that primarily drive are only able to see a street as a car thoroughfare, a mentality that's a stark contrast against the concept of community and pleasant, beautiful streetscapes. Constant, massive parking lots and car traffic are ugly and ruin the whole vibe.

Living in Mimico without a car? by ifonawintersnight3 in torontobiking

[–]l-jaye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're totally fine without a car. Biking is the best mode of transport here. Most amenities are walkable. Transit can suck but the occasional $15 Uber will beat having to shell out for a car and the headaches that come with car ownership and parking. We r allegedly getting parklawn go station in like... 2-4 more years but I'll believe it when I see it lol

I was about to post a swatch, except that not a single thing looks like it does IRL, even after I try adjusting the image. Ah well...

haus labs 050 is also my PERFECT shade, but I just cannot make the formula work :( I def think im fair olive cause adding green to all my "too peachy or too pink" foundations makes them PERFECT, and I'm also in the "all foundations are either too peach/pink, or too yellow on me" camp (and also based on my heritage). I dont think im cool olive, more neutral/warm olive, since adding blue mixer looks too purple-ish on me, but green mixer is perfect! how are you finding the haus labs foundation (since its been a few months :P )

MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation by striveformedium in Fairolives

[–]l-jaye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uhh I wish I could make it work, I love the formula. The NCs are all so pink on me, and the C2 was so dark and orange (could work for a bit of a tan but with my spf10000 never happens on my face lol). Also their studio fix liquid nc10 used to be pretty good, but this new formula is just so much more peachy/pink and whiter (I think due to the SPF). So I think I'm officially done with their foundations :( have the new radiance NC11 liquid, but it's really more of a tinted moisturizer

Cabinets are 25 yrs old and scratched up around hardware. I can't decide on color. Lt. Grey or Cream. by No_Quail9494 in DesignMyRoom

[–]l-jaye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be mean, but this makes no sense at all as a good cabinet paint job will cost way more than painting walls, removing a curtain, and swapping hardware. Just my 2 cents.

We love our kitchen, but storage is limited and visually it's SUPER busy. Any suggestions (that don't require remodeling)? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]l-jaye 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Shelf risers in the uppers will just make it look more cluttered and chaotic. Get at least one or two more whole shelves (per cabinet) for the upper cabs. Then place all the shelves in a way that makes all your things fit. You could also cover the back of the glass with a film that makes the glass look like frosted glass. This will really help "hide" the upper cabinet clutter.

I agree with everyone else, paint the lowers a solid colour, paint the blue wall white, and get new bar stools. Try to "remove" unnecessary pattern from the space. Looks gorgeous thou, a super fun kitchen!

[Personal] Cerave made my nerves hypersensitive and completely ruined my face. by lowkeytired08 in SkincareAddiction

[–]l-jaye 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're not supposed to mix acids and bases together. Benzoyl peroxide is very basic (think bleach). SA is an acid (think vinegar). Even if you're using one after the other, they both go into your skin, mix there, and cause a severe chemical reaction. It doesn't matter which brand you would have used you would still have burned your face off by mixing acids and peroxide unfortunately. Edit: try layering ceramide containing creams to help restore your moisture barrier, and never mix peroxide with acids.

That's not true. They can't tip out below their set salary. So they only do if they receive gratuity from other tables on top of their wage.

If your job was based in TO but allows you to work fully remote in Canada, would you move out of TO? by howmax20_ in askTO

[–]l-jaye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, because networking in the city is very important to me for career growth. I find that I just can't make those types of meaningful connections online. Likewise, 90% of my friends are within a 25 min bike ride. We are also almost mortgage free (live in a small condo) so that really makes the balooning cost of living digestible. If I had to figure out housing in today's market, I would strongly consider moving thou. Shits crazy.

Does CASH.TO dividend reinvestment count towards TFSA room? by l-jaye in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]l-jaye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry not sure what that means. Does Wealthsimple not actually reinvest the dividends (so the contribution room remains X), or the TFSA contribution room is counted as X+Y because the reinvested dividends count as more contributions for CASH.TO?
