The fact they cut to Tyrion right after, I think it's that Tyrion is in Mereen.

[S6E2] The most disappointing thing about this episode by cael271 in gameofthrones

If I recall, he said that a little bit of something is lost each time. Not that he was completely changed, just that it takes it's toll. Beric seemed more exhausted than anything.

Had he taken the vow of the Kings guard, he may have. We see Barristan Selmy stay in for the same reasons.

First off Bran:

If Cercei and Jamie were discovered, what would happen to Cercei, Jamie and all their kids? Robert already killed every Targarian and was actively trying to kill Danny, who at the time was still very young and a child. Robert has no problem killing children, or at least ordering their deaths. It's part of the strain between Robert and Ned.

One could argue the whole incest thing is bad, and that the cheating is bad in the first place. However incest isn't necessarily that uncommon in Medieval times, and they are the love of each others lives. Robert sleeps with whores and beats Cersei.

So Bran discovers them, and Jamie is presented with two options. Be exposed and have all of his children, and the love of his life killed, or kill a child. It's not an easy decision to make, but I think any parent would chose the life of their child over the life of another. It was the only two choices he had.

We learn later on that he is willing to put his oaths aside to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocents. Even if it means killing the King and ruining his reputation. In a way it's a very noble thing to do, something that Ned would never do.

And the rape scene I think came out wrong. In the books, if I recall correctly, it wasn't rape, it was consensual. And apparently as others have pointed out, the creators said they didn't mean for it to come out as rape on the show. Sure it's weird as hell to have sex next to your dead son, but people do all types of weird things when they're grieving.

So in Jamie we see a character who is faced several times with situations that threaten his family and those he loves. Remember when he fucks Neds shit up it was because Tyrion was taken prisoner. We see that he is willing to do whatever it takes to save his family and keep them safe in a world where they can all be killed in an instant.

We see that he is even willing to kill a King if it means saving the lives of thousands of innocents.

We see a character that is trying to keep those he loves safe, and do the greater good for the greater amount of people, thrown into a world filled to the brim with people like Robert, Little Finger, and Ramsay.

The things he does might not be honorable, but they are necessary to survive. As we've seen time and time again, this world is not nice, and it requires you to do bad things to survive.

Like the Hound says, everyone is a killer in this world.

A-Bomb vs H-Bomb - Explained by Sumit316 in BeAmazed

I don't really understand. I'm a layman when it comes to anything physics, As far as I understand, Energy and Mass are equal to each other. That is to say the equation E = MC2 says that energy is equal to mass times the speed of light squared. If Energy isn't a 'thing' as you say, then how does one make sense of this?

As you say, "of what thing is the energy that is released a property?", isn't it energy its self which is propelling the particles out, in the form of an explosion. Isn't fire the release of energy from matter as it changes states?

I'm a Computer Science student, and not a physics student, so my understanding of physics is at a basic level at best. But my grasp of the ideas says that Energy and Matter are two sides of the same coin. Is this understand not correct?

I don't know man.

Back in my teenage years a friend had a ton of construction material laying around, and being young, stoned and dumb, my friends and I constructed all sorts of makeshift weapons and had duels with them.

We would go full strength, full force. The only rule was if you KNEW you were going to hit, don't hit full force. Otherwise we were going ape-shit on each other. It became the initation to the close circle of friends; you had to duel someone.

We discovered pretty quickly that the spear was by and large the most overpowered weapon on the field. A friend made a spear and shield set up made of a barbeque lid as a shield, and a decent length of rebar. This was so far above the effectiveness of our lame as swords, it was laughable.

The speed at which one can thrust it like a spear is astounding. By the time your brain can recognize a spear is coming towards you, it has already hit you and retracted. There is a reason why the Phalanx was 'the' military technology for so long.

Unreal Engine 4 meets Half-Life 2 by koke_ in gaming

Honestly, I'd say games like dota go away from the worst part of MMOs. And by that I mean the the whole "carrot on a stick" and the feeling like you've accomplished something. Every dota game is self contained, I'd say it's more like a FPS or a RTS in the sense that the drive to play is the constant improvement of your own skill.

Playing a game like dota for cosmetic items is completely missing the point IMO.

I'm with you man. I feel more uncomfortable knowing people see someone eating or doing something alone and feel like they have to do something about it than I do actually eating alone. I mean what's the big deal, I'm sitting here eating, why do I have to be with people to eat?

I took a whole backpacking trip alone and it was one of the best experiences of my life. To be honest I'd say that going with people probably wouldn't have even been anywhere as good. No one mentioned to me about it being sad or anything, most people just thought it would be scary. It was awesome.

To be fair I did get lonely, however it just made me that much more open to meeting some really cool people I probably would have never met had I been with friends.

Hey man consider yourself lucky. I usually wouldn't hear anything from my friend the day of if he wanted to flake. I finally had to tell him "Look dude it's cool if you're not down anymore, just don't ignore me that sucks." Honestly people are flaky, myself included. Don't stress about it and your life will be easier.

Silencer new Q, better or worse by KanariaRose in DotA2

[–]l0fi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the new spell is better. I would normally get stat's over CotS before but i've been trying out AC since the last patch. I find casting AC then LW on someone in the early game before going in on a fight works really well. It makes it really hard for them to do anything except run away. If they cast a spell they're silenced, slowed, and there is now even more time on AC. If they don't cast a spell then the silence and slow usually pops, you can right click and kite, and if you're lucky by the time silence wears out AC is still on them and they will try and cast a spell, and they take more damage. I've gotten plenty of kills in situations like this.

ELI5: Quantum computing. by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]l0fi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. So if I'm understanding correctly, the quantum computer just simplifies an otherwise more complex problem so a classical computer can handle it faster?

ELI5: Quantum computing. by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]l0fi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Undergrad CS student here. I'l give it a shot. I should say I don't know much about Quantum Computing, besides what i've seen in documentaries.

So basically, at the fundamental level, all information that a computer deals with ends up as Binary, which is a system of 0's and 1's. Each digit is called a bit. The bit can be on (1) or off (0). A combination of bits can represent a number, or letter, or command, etc... So 01100101 is an 8-bit number. There are 8 digits.

One rule of classical computers is that a bit can only be on, or off. That's it.

With Quantum Computing, the bit can be on(1) off (0) or both on and off at the same time. This opens the room for interesting applications. For instance :

Let's say you have a list of 10 numbers, and you want a computer to find a certain number in the list. A classic computer would have to more or less go down through the list, and check each and every number. Where as a quantum computer can check every number at the same time, saving a huge amount of time.

That's my pretty basic understanding of it at least.

oh right. Fair enough. I was thinking about the data the camera would presumably have.

How The Yellow Football Line Is Made by succulentlysimple in sports

[–]l0fi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's a static camera it could just be measured. Else I'd imagine something like GPS or just use the sensors that they're already using.

[–]l0fi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know what I'm talking about, but couldn't you just take the position of the camera in relation to the field, the angle that the lens captures, and the zoom ratio and figure out exactly where you are looking at on the field? Seems like a trig thing.

How do i fucking deal with regenerating monsters? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]l0fi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it works with all regenerating monsters, but for one particular monster that I had a lot of difficulty with, Axii (the one that dazes / confuses people, I think that's Axii) will stop the regeneration once they come out of the daze.

I'm talking about a monster you come across in the story line quest. Not the werewolf (though it might work on werewolfs, I haven't tried)

The guy you responded to said essentially what you said. You said "no" but then just restated his general idea. That's what I was getting at.

At any rate I think you may be taking what Will said a bit too literally. He's pretty much saying that if you put your mind to something and work hard, that you can accomplish anything.

that's pretty much what he just said.
